I’ve just recently started taking Microgynon and I think it’s ruining my life 😂. Has anyone else experienced horrible side effects? I’ve been feeling so down and depressed, I’ve bitten everyone’s head off, I have terrible cramps, I think I have thrush and just feel so upset.

Does it get better? Should I stop taking it? Or, am I just being dramatic 🤦🏼‍♀️

Im on the prostegen one, first 3 months were hell and I wanted to come off as it really changed who I am, was angry, had horrible periods, was really teary, really low, no sexual drive etc etc, its much better now 6 months in but ive been following mymoonbox on Instagram and they post a lot of the truths we're not told by doctors about the pill so considering coming back off just due to the long term health side effects

I had the same symptoms on microgynon too years ago. I found some website (forgotten what it’s called) with all these awful stories from women. Put me off completely so I stopped taking it and have never gone back!

I actually showed my partner at the time and he was horrified! Men generally have no idea...

Thank you! I’ve booked an appointment to get my implant back in but they don’t have any appointments until Jan ... I’m not sure I can feel like this until Jan 🤦🏼‍♀️. I’ve fallen out with my entire family, I’m pretty sure my boyfriend now thinks I’m an angry psychopath and I’ve just spent £30 on thrush treatment ... I think I may have to stop taking it and hopefully I can return to feeling like a normal non insane human 😂

you can stop taking it anytime you want but of course you won’t be protected from pregnancy so you’ll need to use another form of contraception.

I’ve been on microgynon for nearly 3 years now and I haven’t really seen any side effects at all. I was on gedarel beforehand and had massive mood swings, I would bleed for at least 20 days at a time and I hated it!

I had Microgynon for 4 months 14 years ago and I still remember it because it was so bloody awful. They want you to stay on pills for quite a while to let them settle - think it’s 3 months. Anyway it never got better for me and it was a huge relief to come off. I’m on the mini pill now and it’s great, no side effects and no periods.

I’m really struggling with the pill at the moment, for the last 6 years I’ve had the implant and it’s worked absolutely fine for me, no periods and no side effects. I was due to have mine out in December last year and a new one fitted. The doctor couldn’t do it as she said she couldn’t find it so I was referred for deep implant removal. The wait was 4 months which took us into Covid times 😭😭 I’m still waiting nearly a year later and whenever I ring the clinic which is an hour away from me they say they have no idea when they are starting up again due to Covid which to me is just an excuse now. They never even re opened in the summer and apparently I’m number 20 out of 80 on the list. 8 hate taking the pill, I sometimes forget, I know it doesn’t suit my body and the implant is the only thing that works. All I can do is wait as the deep implant removal clinics are so limited in the country, I’m shocked no one else is in the same situation as I am.

I take microgynon and have had no noticeable side effects but everyone is different. I took it years ago too and had to come off it then and switch to a different pill as it was making me have terrible spots.

The pill turns me into an absolute raging psychopath. I was on the mini pill a couple of years ago as I have adenymiosis (can’t spell it) so needed to stop my cycle but it was awful and I always forgot to take it at the right time anyway but then went back onto rigevidon (similar to what you’re on I believe) and it just escalated things x100, I really was a shadow of myself, so upset all the time, sooo so angry and just generally a mare to be around abs so depressed. Had such a bad experience that even 9 months after my last baby I’m genuinely terrified to go on any form of contraceptive pill whatsoever! Waiting until my local clinic starts doing the coil again so I can get that but even then I’m wary. So crazy how hormones can effect you in different ways but you don’t even realise it until you’ve genuinely managed to piss every human on the planet off!!

I got prescribed this when I was 17 and never had anxiety or felt really down before I took it, I took it for a good 3 years before I stopped but I’ve never been the same since and really put it down to it. But my friend started taking it at the same time and has been on it for about 7 years with no issues 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️
