I started watching Andrea Mills' channel almost from her beginning. I loved her videos. All of them sweet, soothing, positive and uplifting. In fact i started emailing her about things like her dog's skin allergies, and whether or not her kids would be prepared to face the cold cruel world when they had spent their entire childhoods in this idyll. I found her to be smart, and kind and compassionate.
So, a couple of points to be made here.
I find the free jinger forum to be possibly the most appalling set of women i have encountered on the internet, anywhere. Someone else here commented on their being smug and superior. I agree completely. But what they are is completely biased. Very "Karen-y" if you will. Their list of complaints about the Mills is infinite. I am no fan of the father, Tom Mills, nor of his new girlfriend, April. So in my book, if you want to criticize those two? Have at it.
But Andrea? No, that I have no stomach for. She was a small town girl, with little education. She was sexually abused as an adolescent and I believe that triggered her unique need to create a simple, comfortable secure home for her kids, in which she homeschooled, home-churched, cooked and sewed and gardened and organized. She had a phobia about MDs, but quite honestly, given the unparalleled arrogance of that profession, and their all too urgent need to criticize and terrorize people who do not follow their advice, I can understand her aversion (one I do not share). She had 9 healthy babies in 18 years, and they were all well-fed, happy, well-clothed, contented children. They may not meet the rigorous standards of the Karens at Free Jinger, they could all benefit from speech therapy and braces, but given the state of children in this country (with more than 5 million NEWLY DEFINED homeless children since the pandemic started 5 months ago), I'd say Andrea was an over-achiever mom.
When I first started getting seriously upset with the FJ cruelty, i started doing some research into who these people are exactly.
It turns out they formed as an off-shoot of a forum called "Television Without Pity". I was stunned! I used to read those forums about PBS shows like Frontier House, when I wanted to learn about the behind the scenes truth about having to eat mouldy fish. Some moderator over there bought some of the forums, copyrighted them, and turned them into Free Jinger. They are based in AZ, they have about 20 employees, and all of them, and I do mean ALL of them are completely rigid, judgmental, cruel harpies who beat dissenters up until they slink away or are coerced into silent lurking, as I have been.
The bottom line is that the FJ Karens are correct in their criticisms of Tom Mills, Andrea's husband. He IS a pompous, arrogant, narcissistic ass. As stupid as the day is long. His monetization of the channel has gone to his head, and he is now insufferable in his quest to replace Andrea with preferably a sex kitten in her 20's who will be Andrea in every other respect. In other words, a perfect mom who weighs about 150 pounds less than Andrea did. He is finding that goal to be difficult to attain and so we are watching him debate in his head, just how little he is willing to settle for. All the while his children grow more emotionally damaged, neglected and wounded.
FJ has a few Karens who are downright vicious in their attacks on Andrea too. It mystifies me, because the video evidence is there. Their family was lovely 2 years ago. It all fell apart when she died.
One last point: Andrea's step-father, Gary Schelling, did go to prison for sexually molesting a minor. It is not clear if that minor was Andrea or not. His son, Andrea's half brother, Ryan Schelling was also once accused of a similar charge (don't know the specifics), but I don't believe he was tried or served any prison time. Both Gary and Ryan have apparently been clean and sober since and have had no further offenses or charges in the subsequent 24 years. As far as I am concerned, if their families are secure in them being within the family, I will not continue to lambast them.
FJ is fond of painting Andrea Mills as a fascist whackjob. Specifically as relates to a video she made about SandyHook. I won't go in to that here. Suffice it to say she explained WHY she believed what she did. I disagree with her perspective, but I would never call her a deranged fascist.
Ok. That's my 2 cents worth. I will never post on FJ. Those women are blood-thirsty and batshit crazy.
