If my partner posted this about me (if i had one ), I would think they were taking the piss to be honest! It doesnt scream sincere at all.

Actually infuriates me when people take chances with eye sight.
My 14 year old son suddenly went blind 2 years ago, no warning, I spent weeks taking him to different eye specialists and nobody could find what happened. A year later he was finally certified visually impaired.

They have symptoms, signs etc that his eyes need attention, my son didn’t get that chance, why aren’t they getting that kid seen to, makes my blood boil.

I’m so sorry to hear about your son. I am practically blind in one of my eyes and it took me a while to adapt. Mine was an astigmatism that was misdiagnosed and left to progressively get worse.

TLDR
