Just found this thread. I don't know if I fully hate my job as such but I'm definitely feeling anxious and depressed with it.
I was laid off from a tech company last year as a recruiter, part of mass layoffs and not performance related. I was lucky to get another role with a competitor through a past colleague. It pays well, is stable, and I have some lovely colleagues who genuinely care. I should love it.
However, the hours are LONG. 42.5 hr week contractually (8:30-6 with a 1hr lunch) and everyone works longer than this with the work expectations meaning you need to work at least 1 12hr day per week. It's really hitting my energy levels and mental health. I'm anxious all the time that I'm going to lose my job if I don't keep up with everyone else.
The tech industry is also in a weird place with lay offs or return to office orders which means that, as a remote company, we are getting like 300 applications a day to roles. I cant keep on top of them all which leads to people chasing for updates on their applications or making complaints to our info@ email address. This is even when they get automated response emails.
I'm in a lucky place to have a secure job when so many don't so I feel like I can't complain or leave but the abuse from people (men, it's always men) is really impacting me mentally and making me want to leave a job I used to love and have been generally good at for the last decade.
The final straw that sent me to tears this morning was an email to me and the Head of HR cc'd in from a candidate who ghosted me for a month after we requested him for interview, who then came back saying he could meet the next day (the role was filled by this time) and I rejected him via the automated rejection that goes out when we close a role. They can go to spam folders sometimes so I'm guessing that is what has happened here but in his email he has said I personally have tarnished the reputation of the business and consequences need to be taken and it is just making me want to crawl in bed and cry
