The Chateau Diaries #318 Two buck chuck and pork belly under a dingy 80-year-old tent. Sounds elegant.

Really? Heading this way en masse? Oh duck! Lucky I'm pretty much house bound.

This sudden frequenting of the teeny, tiny appartement after 15 odd years... she's going to be in for a shock if she's arriving imminently! So is the rest of the world. We are in full saison d'été mode. This part of the south of France has always been popular with the French for their summer destination. Not as classy as the Côte d'azur, much more accessible - cheap, that whole kiss me quick hats thing. This is THE destination for les banlieue de Paris! But the point I'm making, and that I have noticed over 20+ years, is that there are more and more of them coming! The littoral is heaving. And she hates being around people. Any people. She'll hate it. La plage is off limits for us now until the last week of August. It's just not worth it.

Imagine the chubb rub... on second thoughts don't 🤢🤮
Well, you better brace yourself....you're going to get a lot more people over the next year or so. I read an article that I now can't find (meaning, I can't remember what publication it was in, I thought it was Forbes, but I can't find the article) where several wealthy Brits were interviewed and they said they're moving out of the UK and heading to either SOF, Italy or Spain, due to the threat of increased taxes, inheritance tax being one of them. And they said that their friends are doing the same. From what I read, these folks felt they had 6 months to a year to get out and settle somewhere else.......

The Moons aren't there to take unwanted babies... They're a rescue not an orphanage...

Using the filters on Nick now... how insulting.
I thought that totally inappropriate for that person to involve The Moons... Why do these people think they can volunteer the services of others? They think that because they live in the same country and have a you tube channel that there is some form of unspoken support network. The Princess does nothing to prevent this constant in breeding and its consequences. It's her problem and she needs to sort it out. Shrek couldn't wait to share the 'news' He's another Jason Dufus.. It's me, yes it's me, here I am, I have some news... yes you heard it from me first... So nauseating 🤮

Chantal looked lovely all three days, but not sure about this dress on the third day did anything to flatter her.

What I found weird is Mummy wearing Hanni's old dress. That's bizarre!

People in the comments asking where Tattinet gets her clothes from as she always looks fabulous.. I think they were genuinely interested as I got the impression they were plus size women. This one was too short for not only a woman of her age but her size too...

In a nutshell........they moved to Sicily, got stalled on the reno due to a leak in an adjacent property's terrace that ran into their kitchen (whose walls and copper piping had already been completed), Luca's CSF leak hasn't repaired from the surgery he had 2 years ago so he had it again and the surgery was again not successful - they've given him a couple of options, one of which is to have the leak surgically repaired in Germany, by a doctor who specializes in his condition (but it carries some risks - needs to determine if the risks outweigh his current limitations....they have told him that he is not at risk for further strokes if he does nothing right now, which is good news, but he is frequently tired and still gets a lot of headaches- - I imagine he is on a blood thinner, which is protecting him from further strokes, but those can be limiting in life, as well, and he has mentioned several times over the course of the past two years that he would like to be off them), they went on vacation to Tunisia and all three of them got some sort of flu bug and Sara got it the worst and was still sick when they came back to Sicily - she was pregnant at the time and was worried about the stress and physical harm it may have done to her baby (baby is fine!). Sara also went to school to learn agricultural farming, passed the course, which will be a big help to her as they develop the farmland/olive grove they purchased.

I think the biggest thing is Luca. He's not strong enough to carry on a lot of the works that need doing and you can see it on his face. He looks tired and haggard at times, but both of them are very positive on camera as I'm sure they are in life and this will pass, hopefully. He needs a doctor with more experience in his condition, so hopefully this doctor in Germany can provide a way to manage this that doesn't make him feel "less" than he was before all this was diagnosed two years ago. A CSF leak is a very serious thing and I feel that, ultimately, it must be surgically repaired to reduce risks of other potential illness, like meningitis.
Good summary but you forgot to mention their first olive oil was produced after great help & effort from neighbors and volunteers.

Bosham for me but unfortunately quite pricey. Emsworth perhaps?
Emsworth is lovely. Was buying a house there many moons ago but our buyer pulled out, then parents got ill and the rest is history. Funny how things work out.
Now further down the coast in Dorset. Still have fond memories of house hunting in Emsworth though 👌🏻

How'd I forget that??? Thank you for adding it!

Also, I was thinking about this after I wrote it...Luca could also look sort of haggard because he's basically not doing what he loves. He probably can't do a lot of work he wants to do even if he felt up to it. Being on blood thinners, you have to be very careful about getting cut, scraped, bruised, etc. I recall when my dad was on them for roughly three months after a heart valve replacement, he had to switch to an electric razor to shave, because even knicking himself with a regular razor could be catastrophic!

Thank you @Spirit of place I needed that. I've woken up to one of those mornings where it feels as if everything is crashing in and there are definitely not enough hours in the day! French way of doing things and bureaucracy. I need some laughs. And I think the time may be right to get another cat... heads all over the place!
Hate days like that.

You need a cat or two.🐈🐈
