Veering off on a tangent, I've been wondering who exactly booked in for B&B at Lalande before the "exposure " (aka free advertising) the place received via ETTCDIY. Lalande's location - House in the Middle of Nowhere - doesn't seem the sort of place one would chose for a night of two away unless you had a specific reason to be in the area.

It was on booking.com and is rather conveniently located if you're traveling to the south of France, for an overnight stay, especially for people coming from the UK.

In recent topical threads we have discussed:

1. Concern re how SJ presents her personal financial situation and how fans don't connect the dots. SJ owns flat in London and 50% Chateau. IJ owns ZA property, UK property and presumabley a % of her own mother's home in France.

2. COVID Christmas Diaries at the Chateau - it was evident more people were at the Chateau than the 16 for dinner. Discussions focused on who they were as they were seen in background of vlogs and on cleaning/cooking rosters. Concern increased when it was evident length of journey (would require a pit stop with potential risk) and 2 holding senior public roles in Netherlands and Belgium. No persons have been contacted making comments to them, nor their employers. Not sure how this is bullying.

3. Derek Jarvis paintings -- several present sexualised imagery. These are not openly shown but visible. SJ said her father let people have own interpretation - so I did, tongue in check on one painting. Some discussion of his possible imitation of other styles as he developed his own, and suitability of such imagery in front of a child/daughter.

4. SJ behaviour with volunteers. Concerns discussed. 1-2 posters stated their inside experience/views. These were discussed and debated at length with concerns raised about this in terms of ethics/moral if not legality (Workaway in France). List of boyfriends maintained so we can keep track.

5. Financial gain. Concerns re the lack of financial transparency, continued donations by the vulnerable, questions raised about the charitable foundation. MP2 basically supported with his creativity, depressive tendancies and potential; frustration at lack of action, rework on cottage, open begging in his vlogs. Failure to launch comes to mind.

8. Persons of disrepute who & why. Brenda's bullying online of persons including a patreon asking simple questions. Her inserting herself in key moments like Forest Gump, and general mis representations exposed, including basic lies like the view from her window. She advertised Tattle to 10000 fb fans and threatened us. So a few legal truths were published on Tattle. Jill Scott has a white collar taxation criminal record. Multiple times our comments have expressed frustration and amazement at who SJ associates her brand with and could she please get some experts in, rather than amateurs.
Of all people in LaLa universe Nic, MP and Ruthy are often discussed as professionals who would have some idea of what to do, so we wonder what is going on in her head. Oli, as a marketing communications person and potential co- vlogger, would he not speak with her. Watch SJ burn him for BJJ on launching Chateau tours across Europe.

Commentary on other "characters" (as SJ calks them in vlog 100) is a critique on their behaviour in vlogs, motivations for being there, work contributions, etc. Especially when they start own money making/begging social media presence. BJJ's presence with no skills raises the thought SJ needs a sidekick (used to be MP). Look I can't even be bothered writing about him, read the threads.

10. Restoration work not prioritised. Lack of structural, heating, the basics considered as people obviously are freezing in an old hunting lodge/ruin. It was never a grand Chateau. 15 year ownership yet on her vlogs SJ shows rooms she hasn't gone into (vlog 36) or enters very infrequently or keeps tidy (attic, laundry room, old dairy room, hallways).

The problem I have with Derek Jarvis' painting is...while I'm most assuredly NOT a prude by any stretch of the imagination...his paintings, to me are what some call "soft porn". Yes, art is in the eye of the beholder but, to me at least, this art should not be displayed where any children or very moral, easily offended people can look at them at any time. Yes, she should be proud of them, they were done by her beloved father, but have a seperate "gallery" room where they can be displayed but with a warning on the door! They definitely don't lend anything to the atmosphere of a centuries old chateau.

The house of her grandmother is in Bézier and since her passing probably now shared with the rest of Isabel's siblings, but that's my guess, no real knowledge. Isabel however also owns an apartment in Agde, close to Bézier, that they usually rent out through an agent. She and Percy would go there when her mother was still alive to spend some private days. No clue if they still hang onto it. SJ would pretend to have 'forgotten' all about this property, find keys in her desk and then make a casual remark about 'her apartment at the Mediterranean'.

Didn't she recieve one from her parents, they bought it with the money they were going to use for her to go to private school, but she wanted to go with her friends at the not-private school (Public school? or is public school something else in Britain). Which is the one she sold(?)
Then I think her father purchased another flat for her - don't know where I heard it, or if it is even true, but that's how it make sense in my head...

Something someone said here - I'd quote it but lost it now - triggered a sad thought. It was about SJ being able to celebrate Christmas with so many people, and always be surrounded by people which is how she says she wants to live. Money enables that. People are drawn to success.

And she is using that lifestyle to receive money from some people who are lonely and isolated during the pandemic. Who have to stay away from family and friends, or who don't have family and friends.

So these people who aren't fully happy right now are paying her to live the happy life she wants to live. (Assuming giving isn't entirely about chateau renovation.) Interesting.

It’s taken such bravery for you to talk about these trolls. It’s been affecting all of us at Lalande and Basmaignee for so long. Absolutely lovely people have been bullied so badly that they’ve even chosen to leave the chateau rather than take the abuse. Guests of mine who were not even in the vlog have been stalked and bullied, and the lies that have been made up are beyond belief. My departed wonderful, mild-mannered almost tee-total father has even been accused of being an alcoholic who sexually abused me as a child. The desire to gossip about others is human nature, and none of us mind light hearted speculation about who we’re dating, etc. But I can’t understand people who are so desperate to see evil in others that they invent it and disseminate it. Well I’m shocked at your comment Stephanie, not wholly surprised, but shocked at the meanness and I guess evil intent by very pathetic people. Please know that you are respected and we love the content of your adventures at the chateau. As for Michael, very sad and actually criminal how he has been treated with regard to his signing the rights away .... he needed good guidance in that moment and didn’t get it!! He was robbed and abused. I’m very sorry that this has happened to such a lovely sweet young man. Tell him chin up, lesson learned and get back to his art and creating beautiful work again!! Hello New Member here ... I've been watching CD for some time, since ETTCDIY...after reading through most of the threads here I feel like I have found my people....all my concerns and wondering if gift accepting from strangers is normal had me worried I'd been living my life by the wrong set of morals, this site has conforted me with the realisation I'm not alone at being sickened by the false appreciation for, on occasion, rather weird stuff.

As for UK inheritance tax, I'm no expert but thought this was around 40%?

The problem I have with Derek Jarvis' painting is...while I'm most assuredly NOT a prude by any stretch of the imagination...his paintings, to me are what some call "soft porn". Yes, art is in the eye of the beholder but, to me at least, this art should not be displayed where any children or very moral, easily offended people can look at them at any time. Yes, she should be proud of them, they were done by her beloved father, but have a seperate "gallery" room where they can be displayed but with a warning on the door! They definitely don't lend anything to the atmosphere of a centuries old chateau.

Stepping back a bit, it makes me wonder who thought it was a great idea to sink a ton of money into a semi derelict pile, and leave Stephanie, of all people, in charge, for 15 years, in the first place? WTF? And what has she done with it? Nothing. Until covid and YT, this year, and no-one saw that coming. And yet still essential works remain undone and apparently ignored.

I wouldn't trust her to house sit for one week, let alone anything else!
