From what I've read there are Evangelical types living locally who even think the Burkes are mad. They appear to worship as a family unit of 12.

But I'm talking parents, maybe their kids buy into it.

And 13% is low

I was thinking however low 13% seems...that still shows 'some' voted for him.
Do the Burkes have a lot of local support?

I had only known of the teacher and even then, like many, thought it was his belief around the child, not the being aggressive etc that caused the escalation.

I am learning all sorts now!

I thought this...surely you'd want a job doing what you love, after all that studying? or one in a field you have an interest in?

We laugh but those types had lots of influence in Ireland throughout the yrs.

Seems odd to spend a fortune on education to forfeit it for shouting matches.

Does the dad still work as an electrician? Is the mam still a teacher?
Do the kids ever just want to wear jeans/trackies?
Is it a cult thing?
