After saying I can never find purple carnations, guess what I seen in Tesco this morning I have now moved my lillies to another vase and got some purple and pink carnations for this vase, that’s brightened up my day

Half a teaspoon of bleach and a teaspoon of sugar in the water - doubles the lifetime of the flowers.

Oh yeah I often buy a bunch of gypsophila to bulk out the bouquet as they are super cheap but they go off so quickly! Never bought flowers from M&S although they do always look great think I’ll need to try theirs next I bought orange lillies from Tesco a few days ago still waiting for them to open, I do love an autumnal flower arrangement

I usually buy these from Tesco too and always get 2 different colours, I can never find purple or blue ones which would look great in a a flared purple vase I have, and they do exists because Iv googled them

I buy some every week, too! it’s usually roses/gerberas/carnations because they’re not messy like lilies and don’t stink when you empty them (Gypsophila etc ). I got peonies from aldi recently and they were closed then one by one they just started exploding, petals everywhere.

I got sunflowers once and they actually creeped me out so I had to get rid of them within a day. So now I stick to the likes of Sainsbury’s sweetheart roses.

M&S have been the longest lasting flowers I’ve bought out of a grocery store. I even bought some fuchsia roses from there on whoopsy and they bloomed really big, lasted over a week.

Lidl do some nice flowers as do Aldi. I like roses, hydrangeas, lilies and peony's

They’re spray carnations. Remove the foliage below the water line and pick off the bruised flowers and they’ll last ages.

I love hydrangeas but have never seen them in a shop, think I need to treat myself to a bouquet from a florist

I love fresh flowers and always buy them from Aldi. They are a great price and always last just under a fortnight

I honestly find supermarket flowers better than florist for the money if you get a bit creative. Tesco do a white bunch that lasts 2 weeks for about £10 You can add in some coloured carnations or chrysanthemums or similar for another £3 and make a really decent bunch for a gift. They usually wrap them at customer service too so you can get them home, take them out of the plastic and use the paper they've wrapped them in to remover the 'Tesco'.
Aldi are good too. Their Alstromeria or gladioli look really classic in a long stem vase and last near a couple of weeks too.
I find M&S flowers from store decent but their ones sent through the post not good.

Don't send flowers through Moonpig btw - three times I've had them, always dead.

Do you have a market near you with a flower stall, they normally have hydrangeas. M&S had cut hydrangeas earlier this week too .

Flower lover here too. I have flowers every week. For me Marks and Spencer’s are the best supermarket ones. The only downside with supermarket flowers for me is that it’s all very predictable. There’s much more choice from a florist. I was gifted a Freddie’s flowers subscription a good few months back and the flowers are incredible. Delivered weekly or you can skip them
as often as you want/need to. They last two weeks easily and are always fresh. I love that there are varieties that I wouldn’t ordinarily buy. Back to supermarket though , M&S peonies this year were for gorgeous.

Thought I’d start a flower thread because I don’t think we have one

I love fresh flowers and treat myself to them every week but I usually buy the same bunches- lillies, carnations and peonies when in season.

which are your favourites?

Also where do you think sells the best flowers, I find Tesco do the best compared to Asda and Morrisons, Iv never used a local florist but would love to treat myself to that too

if anyone wants to post pics of their flower arrangements then do so to brighten up the thread

M&S are fab

My Morriston have an in store florist and they are such good value and don't look at all like supermarket flowers. I have attached a two pictures both of these cost less than £15 and lasted ages

My M&S sunflowers have lasted ages. I brought some from Tesco’s a too but they didn’t last as long.

I don't buy flowers that often but I love daffs, peonies, iris and hydrangeas.
I think peonies and hydrangeas together make a beautiful looking bouquet.

The only flowers I don't like are lily, because I can't bear the scent - and sunflower and gerbra.
