I went back to work after having my son (8yrs ago as he’s 9 now), then when I was pregnant with my daughter I was made redundant at 6m so didn’t have a job to go back to. Kind of fell into being a SAHM but really enjoyed it! I found a bit of a part time job a couple of years ago teaching cooking to kids that was nice as I still got to be at home most of the week, when that ended I started as a relief cook at a nursery and have a proper part time job starting in Sept as my daughter starts school then (looking after children; the irony isn’t lost on me
).
I loved: all the baby cuddles, being at home during the day, not having to interact on days when I just didn’t want to, baby classes, having the time to go to sons school meetings/events without having to reschedule anything.
I didn’t love; lack of money, interaction with others on the days I neeeeeeded it, the boredom of housework, always being available to others for parcel deliveries/lifts etc.
If you think it’s the right thing to do, I’d go for it. If you’re unsure, I’d go back to work for a few months and see what you think. If you don’t want to be there, you’ve at least given it a go and can hand your notice in knowing you’ve made the decision you want to x
