Speed camera?!

The 10% plus 1 or 2 rule is only discretionary. Don’t want to be the Debbie Downer here but I had to do a bloody speed awareness course for going something like 33 or 34 in a 30 zone. This was about 6 years ago so could be different now or change area to area but I remember being really pissed off about it because it wasn’t even 35mph and I was going down a big hill. I just wanted to say as I’d say it’s best to not assume there’s a tolerance just in case. But to the original poster I hope you’ll be ok and not been caught.

I thank myself lucky that earlier this year I drove through a bus lane by accident that had cameras and a week or so later was over the speed limit driving towards a police van with the camera but quickly braked but I was worried I was doing well over 30 but touch wood, I didn't receive a fine for either incident.

Just to add, quite a few years ago I got a speeding fine caught on camera doing 33 in a 30. Got a fine and 3 points on my licence.

Also last year husband was caught on camera in a bus lane and we got a fine so I'm not always lucky!

I think that’s it , it’s just your luck. I either was doing within the limit or it wasn’t a speed van. But either way I’m just accepting that Iv got a fine etc, anything else is a bonus

But I was in a 30mph zone today, and in the distance I could see a police van on the opposite side of the road.Didn’t take too much notice of it because it didn’t seem like a normal speed van. It Looked like it was parked up by a house at the side of the road, I only knew it was police as it said it at the top. From what I can remember there was no windows or cameras at the back. There was no neon chevron markings on the van either.
As I drove past the side door was opened and I could see what looked like camera equipment. I didn’t actually see a camera sign, however they may have been one on the front but I was looking straight ahead and never glanced in my rearview as I was too busy looking at my speedometer. I think i was going about 35 mph.
I know it’s my own fault as I was going abit over, but I just wondered if anyone knows if this could be a speed camera?!!

If you were going 35 you should be okay as I think the rule is 10% +2

Thanks, yeh I suppose I will soon find out, to be fair I was going down a bit of a hill and that’s why I think my speed did get a little over. I’m usually really good at sticking to limits but never mind! Just sucks because I’m still on furlough and haven’t got the extra cash but teaches me to be more aware.
I think they have to notify me within 14 days so I should know by then.

Yes sorry I didn’t want to be negative I hope you’ll be ok, just didn’t want anyone to read and think a bit over was ok just in case. I feel like I was really unlucky I was so annoyed about it!

Thanks guys! I hope that was what I was doing, I wouldn’t have been doing much more because I do tend to stick to speed limits, but sometimes I forget myself. It just didn’t seem like the typical speed van. It was really weird with no visible markings etc
