I was just wondering if there was a big community of us on her. I don’t know any other single parent so I feel a bit isolated.
Im 42, my daughter is 3. She sees her father overnight once a week and to be fair he’s a decent dad although obviously only parents 4 days a week.Hey have been looking for a thread for single parents. I’m a 40 year old single mum to my 9 year old daughter and I think I’m having some kind of identity crisis / perhaps a midlife crisisjust wanted other likeminded similar age single parents to talk to. Bonus if you have an only child.
On top of this all my daughter has been pestering me to have a baby and give her a sibling, this has been ongoing for several months and she’s relentless with it. It’s so tiring, she mentions it at least once a day. I’ve told her it’s highly unlikely to happen but she will not give up and says it’s the only thing that will make her happy!! I’ve given her lots of reasons why I can’t just “give her a sibling” but she will not give up, she’s obsessed with it. I’ve talked to friends and family who just laugh about it but it’s really wearing me down and she won’t take no for an answer!! She gets so upset when I ask her to stop asking and she says it’s really really important to her.
Thank you for replying! It’s tough isn't it. My daughter says she is lonely and it also breaks my heart. I do try and meet up with her cousins, friends and her school friends etc as much as I can but she says she can get lonely when it’s just us two in the house. She has noticed at school that she’s the only person in her class without a sibling and looks on at her friends with envy when they mention hanging out with their siblings.Im 42, my daughter is 3. My daughter would love a sibling, and it’s not going to happen. She says things like “I’ve got no one to play with, why haven’t I got a brother or sister” and it breaks my heart. She’s too young to understand so for now I just tell her that some people have brothers and sisters and some don’t.
it’s contrite isn’t it - and like you, friends and family don’t understand and they laugh it off.
