Ski Holiday Advice

Hi Tattlers

I’m horribly confused with a first-world problem!

Wanna book a skiing holiday with my kids aged 14,12,10- me and hubby. £2.5k budget for 5 days trip.

Kids are agile and competent (in a general sporting sense) but never had lessons. I’ve been skiing a few times; hubby has only been once (but is a competent skier). I’m overwhelmed with options and am 100% up for someone telling me “We’ve been here and it’s fab.”.

My only qualifying expectations :
1. Less than 3 hrs flight travel from UK
2. Less than 2 hrs additional travel to resort (basically looking for short travel time from UK)
3. Accommodation that’s walkable to ski-lift.

I can live with very average accommodation, happy to cook for ourselves etc. Am tempted to ditch the whole ‘ski school’ for the kids in favour of a couple of lessons in advance of us going, and a bit of tuition from me (they’re capable, sporty, and I reckon I can give them the basics in a morning).

TDLR Tell me a ski a resort close to UK, short transfer, good beginner to intermediate skiing, and close to ski-lfit!

You could try Sierra Nevada in Spain (near Granada) or maybe Andorra. I’ve been to both and loved both. Alternatively, I’ve heard that Bulgaria has some good ski resorts

When do you want to go and does that budget include lift passes and ski hire? If so your only real option will be a Bulgaria package outside the peak weeks. It’s cheap and cheerful and does the job well for beginners.

I love Andorra for beginners too but the lift passes will likely bust the budget for 5 of you, maybe Pal/Arinsal which is a smaller area might work.
