Okay so they don't have kids, but they do have dogs and a cat, so that counts as a family right? Does anyone else watch this youtube channel? Arielle and Eric live off-grid in Alaska - the life that they show is incredibly interesting (without being preachy at all that it's what everyone should do), and what they film is of a high standard, which always makes vlogs easier to watch. They are obviously making a really good living off youtube with over half a million subscribers. They seem really genuine- with some of the sustainable/ lifestyle type channels you wonder if people's lifestyles are as sustainable as they make out for vlogs, but that isn't the way that they come across at all.

Yes, my husband and I are both subscribed to them 😁 really enjoy their videos. I like the slow living they do, self sufficient life in the wilderness of Alaska is absolutely not any kind of reality I could envision but I enjoy living vicariously through them, when I'm in the mood.

It's such a good channel isn't it? I could never live that way either - they work so hard to live - I am too inherently lazy lol.

Oh same, yeah. I'd give it a go for a few weeks then cry that I have to work for my heating and food. I've also got kids and anxiety so I'd be hysterical 🤣🤣
It's quite a niche, stuff like that. I'm surprised to find someone else watching same stuff as me 😆
See if anyone else comments..

I just found their channel recently, I started gardening this year so YouTube recommended a lot of homesteaders, most of them were a miss but I really like Ariel and Eric! They’re really nice and resourceful and what I like the most, is that they genuinely seem to enjoy their each other’s company, they’re a team for sure and the quality of their videos is amazing.

I couldn’t live like that either, my grandparents had a similar life as children, but that was the norm on the countryside at the time and they continued to grow their own food and food for their children for a long time… but that’s why I know how much work self—sustainability is and I could never do it🤣

also I would probably die if I’d had to shower outside in the Alaskan weather, that’s just big no 😅

I haven’t had the time to go through their whole channel but did they ever talked about what did they do before this or are they somehow connected to Reyff electric, I always see them wearing those t-shirts.

Yes they have talked about it. I found their videos all in order and have watched most of them. I believe Ariel was a dental hygenist and Erica was in construction. Is there anything he can't do! He is a work horse.

They actually just bought ANOTHER cabin and some land ; and the new place has indoor plumbing and full indoor bathroom - they appear to have 3 properties now .
However i sometimes think Ariel does most of the hard graft - Eric is usually stading around drinking his 17th cup of Tim Hortons coffee

I think that Eric does a lot of the physical work/ hard labour type stuff, and Ariel does more of the filming/ content type stuff for their channel. They are obviously doing really well with it financially to have bought the new property - it actually makes four. They have where they live now, the property just a bit down the road (recent vlog where they moved the conex off it), their remote cabin which they boat or snow mobile to, and then the new log cabin with the indoor bathroom and 40 acres.

i dont count land as property - just buildings - and ive often seen Ariel huffing and puffing struggling while Eric just looks on - i watch ALL their videos

I think, they’re great at sharing their tasks. There’re things that Ariel is much better at and likes to do more, like gardening (I’m sad they will not have a garden next year), mushrooms and foraging, beekeeping and Eric has his expertises as well with all the electrical stuff and heavy machinery. And from what I have observed, they do everything together, the only time I’ve seen Ariel struggling is when they were moving and lifting heavy things but it’s not like they have more people there to help them…They both have skills that are valuable for their lifestyle and they seem to respect each other which is not something I frequently see with influencer spouses 🤣🤣

I’m excited to see more of their new property and what they will do with it but it will definitely be slow process 😆

I disagree I always thought that Ariel just stands around watching. Eric also does all the editing of the videos.

Is anyone still watching them? I used to really love every vlog, but I've kind of gone off them. They don't seem as genuine for some reason, and they seem to go out of their way to make things hard for themselves? Like the outdoor shower - it just seems like stupidity - at least the new property has indoor plumbing, but they seem to put themselves through unnecessary deprivations when clearly they are earning very good money off their youtube channel?
