I can't believe someone would have the cheek to pull Sali up on her literature knowledge. Do they not know about the sweater?

I do find it grim getting your hair done for free time after time while you swan into the salon in your Prada brothel creepers and your Dior bumbag. I couldn’t look the salon girls on minimum wage in the eye.

Good solid effort.
But now you also need to include a very complicated, expensive and unnecessary cleansing 'system' with many steps.
Also do you own an ugly belt and shoe or two?
I am detecting criticism. I don't like your tone. Blocked

I struggle with anyone who is left wing also loving the queen. Lots profess to be republican but go all soft on the queen because she’s so great for some reason. Apart from the fact that she's still going at however old - having received the best of everything including medical care and experienced minimum stress her whole life - I fail to see what people actually like. Do they think they know anything about her other than what they've projected or rumour? Truly baffling. The only one who gets a free pass stanning HMQ is Alan Bennett (please protect him at all costs 🙏) and even he had the good sense to decline a knighthood

Apologies for going completey off topic there

Journalism, when it mattered, was a trade, not a profession. No tertiary qualifications required, all on-the-job training. Now it's a pissing contest between bluetick wankers, self-professed "journalists" who couldn't tell Pitman shorthand from a Twombly abstract. A needy bunch of rosé-swilling elitists dripping in designer accessories while pretending to be socialists, fawned over by idiots on social media. It's depressing

Legend. That is all

It is almost like a meme:

Journalists then: I just uncovered a huge scandal and my life is now at risk

Journalists now: I just wrote a column about the 5 best intimate washes and they were mean about my taxidermy on Tattle!

I think yesterday's Jane Eyre exchange was peak SH. The seeming need to a) take issue with any hint of criticism, b) ensure that we know how clever and cultured she is, c) remind us that she is the brave victim of internet trolling, and d) be seen to have the last word. All within the context of a post requiring admiration for her taste and affluence.

(And would she have even responded to the reference to JE if it hadn't been from a fellow blue-ticker?)

I've got nothing to add as my day has gone on for approximately 72 hours and my brain is barely functioning but just wanted to say thank you for making me cry laughing on a dreary Friday night! And I'm a bit disgusted by how SH has misrepresented this thread when it's one of the warmest and friendliest communities I've seen in 20 years on the internet.

I still don't get the original 'Jane Eyre is shook' comment. What did that mean? But yes @Aude, perfect summary. She just can't bear to be seen as not knowing something. Has she ever said anything like "oh I didn't know that, that's interesting" in her whole life?
I feel like the original poster just got confused between Jane Austen and Jane Eyre and Sali ran with it to be clever, except she too obviously doesn't know her regency from her gothic and made it even weirder. I suppose when you decide to sell yourself as much educated, so cultured, chinning books night and day, not picking up the difference between the two comes across a bit embarrassing. Sali's brittle self image when challenged immediately shatters into whatever cutting remark she can type out. I do think she'd benefit greatly from reading Jane Eyre, it has some beautiful ideas that were ahead of their time in a society where the author had to sell her work as if she were a man to prevent bias. Here's one I think Sali should meditate on given her chosen path as an influencer, one of my favourite Jane quotes:

“I can live alone, if self-respect, and circumstances require me so to do. I need not sell my soul to buy bliss. I have an inward treasure born with me, which can keep me alive if all extraneous delights should be withheld, or offered only at a price I cannot afford to give.”

“I am aware of the differences”

sounds like a thread title to me

In what way is using lilac shampoo a faff? I thought it was applied like ordinary shampoo? 🤷🏻‍♀️
I'm often struck by what she does and doesn't consider a faff.

Can't be bothered to apply more than one serum in the morning (time requirement: 30 seconds) but can be bothered to adopt a hair maintenance routine that involves visits to three separate London establishments, faffy shampoos and constant intensive conditioning (time requirement: endless).
