I’d never heard of the shower cap debacle but then again I have only read her Guardian column once and it annoyed me asWell, I have to say that I FOUND MY PEOPLE!!
Some context:
This morning I saw on my Twitter timeline that someone I follow liked "that" tweet from Sali, the one directing to her Instagram video. Clicking through that tweet I saw her mention of this site and came here and maaaaaaannn, I wasn't disappointed
I didn't read every single post of the three threads because it's nearly 3000 posts and I rushed though them, I wanted to know as much as I could about the people who were inflicting suffering on poor little Sal' *cackles*
Some history:
I used to belong to her GTL FB group and when it was closed I moved to her website forum along everyone who did it too. And what happened you may ask? I was bullied twice, once in the FB group and the second time in the forum, not only by the people who had I had a different opinion from but alas, Sali herself. I decided that I wasn't going to be bullied a third time and just left. Why was I bullied? Because I obviously dared to have a different opinion to the majority of people on both discussions. I am absolutely not surprised to find so many ex GTLers and ex Forumites here as I refused to feel the odd one out, deep down I knew that there should be more people like me around.
I have never read the forum since I left but I carried on reading her column on the Guardian mostly out of curiosity. I started noticing a shift in the comments a while ago when people genuinely began asking her why she had stopped making videos and started making columns - ie. badly disguised paid for ads - about products. The kickstart point if I'm not wrong was the column about the 40 quid shower cap where the shower cap "inventor" (bwahahaha) came BTL to defend good ol' Sal who was being roasted about recommending a shower cap that cost 40 English pounds and practically gave the game away that such column was a paid post. I relished, yes, I bloody did.
The comments started getting more and more inquisitive and I'm sure she has a list of posters' names she doesn't want their comments posted as I tried to post many times - nothing aggressive - and the comment was never published. Please note that I never had a problem with my comments in any other section of the Guardian.
I am ashamed to say that I was once her admirer but after a while I could see her for what she really is: a glorified make up artist. She calling herself a journalist is an affront to real journalists. She basically uses flowered up language to talk about lipstick. Who exactly does she think she is? The Keats of Foundation? The Shakespeare of Eye Shadow? Her writing is pitiful, vacuous, empty. What she is though, is a basic sales person. Had she never met the right connections and charmed her way through her "career" she would be at a counter selling her beloved Bobbi Brown stuff.
Going through these threads I learned so much more stuff that actually confirmed my point of view: the clique, the bullying, the double standards when it comes to female friendships, that she married a Tory while being a "leftie" (the champagne socialist stuff is pretty galling). Her website completely tanked, I had a look today and no new posts for years, no wonder she's returning to Facebook where she can flog stuff for free while being paid for it. I flicked through her books in a bookshop and I can't believe anybody in their sane mind would buy that crap. If you compare and contrast to the book Lisa Eldrige wrote, about the history of make up, her efforts are laughable.
She has no discernible talent and like the saying goes, you can fool some people for a while but not everyone all the time. Today is probably the first column ever that had no comments section BTL. Her desperation in her video saying that she had legal advice - DID SHE BOLLOCKS - is hilarious! I don't want to give away too much but unless she's receiving rape/death threats or serious and repetitive abuse she can do zilch about it. She is annoyed and scared because people started seeing her for what she really is, a big fraud. Someone who does paid posts for scrunchies and shower caps. Someone who's bitter because she wasn't at the Victoria Beckham make up launch. Someone who can't write something insightful to save her life. Someone who's incredibly jealous of talented people like Lisa Eldrige and associates herself with likewise shits like Botox Tilbury.
She's going to regret her video because I could see this site got a LOT of new posters, me included, because of her own stupidity in publicising it. This whole omnishambles should be a warning to her, she should take a step back and ask herself why so many people are taking a stand against her. This should be an opportunity to stop, think and learn. Unfortunately, she's too conceited, arrogant and vain to admit that she was ever wrong. Her world is about to come crashing down on her and I am going to watch it with my very large G&T in one hand and my phone in the other.
PS: I'm so sorry about the long post but I had never spoken to anyone about the bullying I suffered from Sali and her cronies, I bottled everything up. This is the first time and I feel so relieved.

The whole ‘influencer’ culture has made me very suspicious whenever I see anything even on their wrist or feet or in the background of their homes as chances are it was sent for free so doesn’t have any real value to them so their recommendation can’t be trusted. It’s a huge problem for me as I adore beauty skincare. It’s pretty much a full on hobby for me at this point and if so like something Ill buy a full range like some people will buy a favourite T shirt or pair of trainers in every colourway. I love it. BUT these greedy bloody bottom feeders who will shill anything whatsoever now have no value to me as they lie for their own deceitful ends. Hirons used to avoid Dermologica like the plague but now she works for them their products are recommended by her a lot. Noticed in the Liberty Advent Calendar unboxing that Sali sloppily did recently that a Dermologica product popped out and she said something along the lines of ‘Oh this brand is great now. They excite me more than they used to do. Excellent. Check them out’. Really Sally? They started paying you and now you’re excited by their products. Get.To. duck. Of course they protest their integrity to the point of nearly hyperventilating with outrage but it’s true. Hughes, Hirons, Baggot and many more are paid puppets and would be better off working for QVC. Nowadays I will get free samples if poss and rely on my mates recommendations before I splurge on things that before I’d take Hirons or Hughes word for.

Very good point made. Influencers are salespeople with a different name. They're cheaper than paying for advertising on TV, radio, newspapers and magazines. They also have the added advantage of being deceitful about the relationship with the brand, giving the impression the product was bought with their own money

I think anyone who came here to defend her did so by calling us all c*nts (or similar) and then got blocked, rather than trying to enter into discussion. That's from what I saw anyway (which was one post of someone calling us all names that vanished shortly afterwards).

Well the Giles Coren thing is interesting. I have completely detached from many of the people I used to watch on YouTube or read the columns of, so had not heard any of it at all. If true, then Hughes is a massive hyprocrite as well as a smug so and so.

I'm another who was bullied off the forum. I had the audacity to have the same condition of a popular member and was told I was lying, attention seeking and trying to take the focus off the popular member.
I'd been to a few meet ups and had swapped numbers with a few people. I then got texts from some people who I know I hadn't given my number to telling me to never turn up to the meet ups again.

I have always thought she had a funny way of interviewing. She rarely makes eye contact and stares at the floor/ceiling/her own hands etc rather than look at the other person when speaking and then flicks her head in this self-conscious way while agreeing with whatever it is that the person in front of her says. If they love this lipstick then Sali loves it and knew about it YEARS ago. If a certain region in Italy is their favourite place to holiday, then it has always been Sali's favourite and she has holidayed there before it became popular, if someone likes a band, then Sali knew about them before they were signed. Yadda yadda yadda. How insecure must she be to have to constantly state how cool and cutting edge she is? She is about as cutting edge as my Nan.
Yes I remember the twitter pile on of Esther Coren that Sali started and encouraged as Esther’s article wasn’t to her liking. A couple of people calmly challenged SH on this, suggesting she had misread the tongue in cheek tone of the article and was behaving reprehensibly by stirring things up. Of course SH was having none of this and refused to consider an alternative viewpoint or take responsibility for EC having to lock down her social media.
I also remember another occasion where SH and a group of her cronies, IK et al, were taking the piss out of giles and Esther Coren on Twitter, as he had written a piece about not being able to get his children into the local state school because of people renting flats in the area to get their kids in. They were making quite personal and nasty comments and using #prayforthecorens, all on a public forum. Anyway, someone who used to chat quite a bit in the comments of EC’s old blog, Recipe Rifle, challenged them, saying it was a bit out of order. They absolutely WENT for her, in quite a nasty way, telling her in no uncertain terms that she was a nobody who had no business commenting on their “private” chat. She basically had no chance against these trained and experienced journalists.
So I really don’t buy this “poor Sali” routine that people are buying into left, right and centre, without bothering to check the facts. She is well capable of giving as good as she gets and has only gone on the defensive now as she got caught harassing people who dare to disagree with her. Her and her mates’ nasty comments about “skid mark” lives and IK’s offer of her thug husband going round to see people shows exactly who they are.
(Full disclosure - I love Esther Coren’s writing and think she has far more talent than SH could ever wish to have. I have little in common with her but she is clever, funny, self aware and not a grubby money-grabber).

The Keats of Foundation was never intended to be thread title as I genuinely find her a pretentious arse but I'm fine if you want to run with that
ETA: There's a new thread in Mumsnet AIBU asking "Isn't that horrible what is happening to SH, blahblahblah". The vast majority of posters are saying that they have been here and saw nothing of the sort that Sali is claiming and that, actually, and this is pretty interesting, Sali fabricated the whole stuff in order to get attention and new followers since her career is hitting the skids hard and fast. I wouldn't put it past her tbh. If that is the case, she played us all like a fiddle and we served our purpose. However, it's a two way street as Tattle gained a lot of new posters as far as I can gather.
