Russ wouldn't have the first idea about the the richness and complexity of women's lives if it bit him on the rear foo foo, so it's no surprise he doesn't have any understanding of his own mother, but still tries to use her to make some kind of point about himself.
Just a bit part in The Story of Russ.

I think it's the 'I'm about as working class as they can be', which is such a wanky thing to say, when also constantly posturing his 'high brow' interests in books and dislike of football/football culture (It's fine to like books and to dislike football btw, but he flaunts both as if they are bleeping virtues and to elevate himself from other).

He's such a middle class mediocre Matthew who romanticizes his background and uses his mother's illness to get Twitter approval.

Thing is, on Twitter people will always say you don't know what you're talking about, regardless of your expertise/background/skills/knowledge. There is no need to prove yourself to strangers, but it's something the Russes of the interweb seem to forget. And like that they create their own weird online persona that needs to be defended and defined ad infinutum.

Middle class is pretty much a meaningless term nowadays. It used to be that working class = low paid, physical work and council housing and middle class = cushy, stable jobs and nice homes. Nowadays, we’re all in the tit. We’ve got teachers and nurses using food banks and problems like housing and living costs affect both groups. And in terms of income, class is quite meaningless. People I know in jobs that Russ would sneer at, like mechanics and electricians, easily out-earn those in ‘middle class’ jobs.

The stuff about his mum never reading a book is just horrible. The implication being that poor little Russ never got taken to a library or museum when he was younger, therefore you can’t criticise him now for being another privileged man on Twitter with tit takes. A lot of us had difficult childhoods. How many of us grow up feeling like things are great and we fit in? But once you get to your 50s it really might be time to get therapy or move on with your life.

"I've never known her to read a book"

Careful, Russ, your misogyny and hatred of the working class is showing.

"I haven't got the foggiest idea how I ended up being me"

Who, "rear foo-foo man" who begs online? I'm sure your parents are dazzled by your success.

Over the past couple of days I've seen people roasting him constantly on Twitter and it's improving my quality of life significantly

It’s the best isn’t it? It’s great to feel in the majority rather than screaming into the void as I do with Jack

Everytime this thread pops up an internal dialogue starts in my head singing Foo Foo to the tune of the Mu Mu bits in Last Train to Transcentral by the KLF.

I may need to set up a Go Fund Me to get therapy.

We need Jack to tweet about front bums and bum bums for people to turn against her clearly.
She already tweets about labia and fanny cakes. Perhaps it’s less off putting when someone has less of an incel vibe.

It’s difficult to keep this thread going because his tweets are so crushingly dull. Just imagine a sixth former yelling ‘yeah duck the tories’ over and over and you’ve pretty much got his Twitter feed.

Do I think it happened? Nope.
Is this kind of ignorance plausible? Sadly, yes. :(
Other guy might be from elsewhere and not really know about the UK and Ireland. Ther are whole states in The USA where you could have that convo (not in NYC or Boston, but easily in Arkansas or Mississippi)

In the pub. At the next table a man is having the history of sex patiently explained to him. He is shocked to learn that women don't like the term "rear foo foo".

I glanced across. He's easily in his 50s.

How is this possible?

Guys have to share the cringe of this memory -

Remember the cringe blog post written as if it was talking to a woman he’s shagging going on about how long he lasts and she’s welcome to read a book? It was written as if he was talking to m’lady directly 😭

Only my personal experience, but men that think lasting a long time is a good thing tend to have learned everything they know about sex from watching porn and are just re enacting it.
(As well as the cringe factor for that being off the charts, obviously!)

Ugh yeah that’s awful. I don’t want hours of thrusting. I’ve got work in the morning. Although I suppose if you read a book you could just fantasise you were shagging Rupert Campbell Black and not a gross beardy bro.

Just woke up so I don't know if this'll make a whole lot of sense but his posturing about how "well read" he is and how "intelligent" he is compared to unibrowed louts who don't care for literature makes him come across like Adrian Mole (and the point of the Adrian Mole series is not to see yourself in him) but also it comes across as classist and ableist in my eyes - not that working class people can't be educated, but that a lot of his gimmick feels like punching down (esp since he brags about grammar school so much).

Slight merail incoming here but it is relevant I promise. I have learning difficulties (dyspraxia and fairly severe dyscalculia, I can't read clocks or do simple maths or anything like that) and people like Russ that focus so much on so-called intelligence really grind my gears - I may not understand basic maths or science and I may have trouble with reading books but that doesn't mean I'm stupid and to look down on people just because they "sound" or "act" stupid is repugnant (especially considering he's the one who coined the phrase "rear foo-foo"). It shouldn't matter what someone's IQ score is or whether they read Dostoevsky, what matters is how they are as a person - whether they're compassionate or kind or whatever.

This sounds kind of long and sanctimonious but as a former learning support/special education kid I'm sick of these types of people lauding their superiority.
