This has genuinely shocked me. Love Anthony Head.
I burst into tears when I heard as I am a huge Buffy fan. It got me through my teenage years and for many of us, Giles was the dad we wish we really had. The last

He just lost his long term partner Sarah in January and I know they said complications from pnuemonia but I think he just didn't wanted to fight it anymore.

Shocked me too. Last watched him in Motherland Was I bad thinking it was suicide, after losing his partner?
Not gonna lie but that that was my first thought as well as soon as my sister told me.

I think I will be binge-watching Buffy over the weekend and that episode of Doctor Who where He played an evil headmaster, which crowned him the best Doctor Who villain of all time
School reunion!! Thats a cracking episode of Doctor Who

Very sad news about Anthony Head, he was such a classy actor who always stood out even in small roles, like when he played Will's dad in the Inbetweeners film, or Charismatic Mike in Back. You still noticed and remembered him even if he was only on screen for 5 mins.

I suspect as others have said, he may well have lost his will and purpose after Sarah died

So sad for Emily and Daisy to have lost both parents in such quick succession.

I remember watching the first episode of Buffy and being a bit unsure about all the vampire stuff, then seeing that Anthony Head was in it and thinking “it’s ok, this is going to be great”. Such a legend.

ETA I heard the news in the radio earlier and literally shouted NO to myself in the car. So sad.

He must of been broken hearted, and lost the will to carry on, incredibly sad for his daughters and family.

Really sad about Anthony Head, awful news. A very good actor and singer, and a very humble man. He brought sophistication and great timing to every part he played, whether comedy or drama. I must admit that this hit me hard when I heard about it a short while ago. RIP Anthony. You will be missed.

I first remember seeing Anthony Head in the 80s/90s Gold Blend adverts
This is where I first saw him as well. I would urge people to watch those ads, they are still entertaining after all these years. I wonder if Sharon Maughan has been approached for a comment yet? The ad campaign was decades ago, but they are deeply entrenched into our memories.

So shocking. Losing his wife so suddenly must have been too much for him. I hope the girls are seriously supported, can't imagine what they are going through
Loved him as the Prime minister in little Britain

The way I gasped at my phone in the supermarket when I read the news, someone came to check if I was ok! That’s the third Buffy death in a relatively short space of time. Between that, James Van Der Beek and Matthew Perry, my teenage self is distraught.

Gutted beyond belief to hear about Anthony Head dying, he was such a favourite of mine. Never anything short of brilliant in whatever he was in, and by all accounts a genuinely kind man as well who went above and beyond for vans.

I'm devastated for his daughters, they only recently lost their mum too.

Life is too often cruel.

RIP to one of our greats.
