My husband is exactly the same, and so I asked him what some of his favourite gadgets are. He's currently rummaging around in the kitchen and bringing me his favourite things 😂

So far we have:

ThermoProEdge.

Ideal for reverse searing meats, you insert the probe in the meat (in the oven) and then it will set off an alarm when your meat is at the optimal temperature, which means the meat is really tender . Because of this, it doesn't always come out looking as appetizing as if you'd grilled it or fried it for example, which leads me on to his next toy:

Spicy Dew Blowtorch

The Smart sharp 3 stage knife sharpener

Meat claws:

Fried Egg Rings:

It's not a gadget but a decent cast iron pan. Can make pizzas in it and get it hot enough without damaging it for decent sears on meat.

No actual advice on any gadgets, but up until a couple of years ago, my boyfriend didn’t know that lemon squeezers/juicers was a thing!! His mind was actually blown when I told him about it.

Since then, one of my ‘joke’ birthday presents for him every year is a different lemon squeezer.

Here’s this years:LOL:

Look at the YouTube channel “crazy Russian Hacker” - he has hundreds of videos where he tests kitchen gadgets. He’s also very endearing and hilariously heavy handed with the gadgets so has got a pretty big following. I got stuck in a YouTube hole with his videos last lockdown!

A vacuum packer . It was about £30. Hubby gets meat and cheese from the cash and carry in big blocks then cuts it into portions and seals it again .Also handy if you don't want to use the whole pack of something. We need more bags now though.

Love my slow cooker too.

My mum always buys me and my partner a joint Xmas gift for the house. It’s usually something for the kitchen. The most used one we got though was my electric can opener 🤣 it’s so much better and quicker than doing it yourself 🤣 Something I wouldn’t buy myself but love it 😆

It's not very random but I cannot live without my milk frother. I used to have a manual one and just microwaved my milk but then upgraded to the Nespresso milk frother. It's amazing. Even makes instant coffee taste good haha.

Edit: also cannot live without my toastie machine, so oldschool but there's something really comforting about a good old toastie! I recently had a bad dose of food poisoning and had no appetite to eat anything for about 2 weeks afterwards other than a cheese toastie. So good!

I have a JosephJoseph green ladle sieve thing that I use every day.

Spiraliser - Good, only use it on "posh" dinners, mine is bulky as fuck and a pain in the arse to store and clean. Mine is old fashioned though.

A pan for the microwave which turns it into a grill (had it years and never used it, so it obviously doesn't appeal to me).

Candyfloss machine - Got for the kids, absolute rubbish. One use wonder. Didn't get good results.

5 bladed herb scissors - absolute crap, a good knife is more superior. This just gets all the herbs trapped inside and its hard to clean. My sister once used it to cut her weed when she lost her grinder and complained as a result lost most of it, she said my hand held parmasan grater did a good job though.

Oxo Masher- it's just a hand held potato masher but designed so you are pounding down. I wouldn't go back to using another.

Smoothie maker - bought with all the good intentions, went out and bought Smoothie recipe books and such. Used a few weeks and quickly because just a phase I was into.

Gun shaped ice moulds - I feel so gangsta with these in my drink. Same can't be said for cake pop moulds I am afraid.

Silicon oven mit - waste of my time and space. A tea towel will suffice.

Air fryers are a god send. I use it more than my regular oven.

Last lockdown I recently rediscovered my pasta maker which is a good fun to play around with!

Also, I don’t know much about them myself but my sister always raves about her air fryer 😄

I love this! Brilliant idea ❤ How many do you have now?

Oh, we used to have an air fryer, but my FIL dropped it and that was the end of that.
Pasta maker is a great idea, thank you! ❤
I have this. Love it! It’s for measuring spaghetti

Damn, I wish I knew this existed before I bought a pasta spoon with a built-in measure! It works as a measure, but it’s useless at serving pasta because everything just slips down the holes 😂 Thank you ❤

I am planning to get us a slow cooker when we move out (thanks to Covid we can’t). Do you find that the vacuum packer is useful not just with Cash and Carry stuff? We don’t have one of those anywhere near us 😔
We used the vacuum pack to larger meat into smaller servings, and also we've vacuum packed fresh meat from the butchers to keep it fresh longer before we use it. I do find it quite useful in theory.

Agreed with this, my husband loves his. Another thing he loves is his raclett (I think thats what it’s called) cheese melter

Best thing I’ve got is the ninja air fryer, use it pretty much daily. Also love my little manual vegetable chopper from Amazon, so much quicker and easier and less faff than an electric one

A potato ricer. Think it was about £20 on Amazon. It’s manual, but I swear it’s the best thing I’ve ever got 😂 makes my mash so nice. Simple but effective!
We have one already, but thank you ❤

Oh, I used to have one! I think I lost it in one of many house moves and never repurchased, and I should. Thank you ❤

im a sucker for kitchen gadgets! Have you had a look on the Debenhams website, they are nearly all 50% off on there. I got my kitchenaid from there not so long ago. I like the look of the Nutrininja Foodi, it does loads!

I love this thread!

Nothing ground breaking, but I bought a pair of small plastic tongs a few years ago to stop burning my fingers on toast and to pull crumpets out of the toaster. Life changing!
