Absolutely agree put the crate down stairs. And sleep down there for a night or 2 if you want to stay close to the pup. Once there in the bedroom you'll never get them out so start as you mean to go on. Our dog is 14 months and now and like the last poster said its pretty hectic to start with but you'll soon find your way. Any questions just ask xx

@WilmaHun there is a great group on Facebook I used when we were getting puppy fudge, not sure if we can post groups but it’s called dog training advice and support, they have loads of files with tips and tricks! Not that it worked for us because puppy Fudge sleeps in our bed every night but we were too soft

How long did everyone go before leaving them in the house alone? I've booked a week off work so that I can be with him, but my other half says I need to go out for an hour, then increase it every day so that he gets used to me not being there all the time. I feel bad doing it on his first full day with us though!?

We started off just calling out for half an hour to the shop then gradually increased to an hour. He’s 13 weeks now and we left him for four hours this weekend whilst we went to the cinema to see The Batman!
We bought a lamb with a heartbeat in from Amazon and I think that really helped to settle him when we first brought him home.
Stay consistent with the house training and take him out every 20 mins or so to begin with go heavy with the praise when he does a wee or a poo outside but ignore it if he does one inside. Ours hasn’t had an accident in his crate yet touch wood. He did cry like a baby (the whine is worse!) when he went in his crate to begin with (other than at night and he was perfectly fine and quiet) but they do settle eventually. We left the tv on to begin with when we went out during the day but don’t bother now.
Definitely leave them regularly. Maybe not the first day though! Make sure he is left alone while you are in another part of the house as well, it's not just about leaving the house.
Remember you need to expose him to as many noises/experiences/circumstances as humanly possible before he is 16 weeks old.

Also get him to the groomers for a puppy intro asap after he’s had all his jabs!
We got a puppy first lock down and she still sleeps in her crate at night.
When she first arrived, I slept down the stairs and we had her cage in the living room, she whined a little bit but not too much. I also bought her a lamb that had a heartbeat in it and put that in for her to snuggle up to him (she had in until she tried to do the nasty with him before she had her first heat
)After the first couple of nights she got the message that's where she slept and then I went back upstairs.She doesn't even attempt to climb the stairs as she knows she's not allowed. Good luck, I found a puppy way harder than a newborn but at least they grow up real quick!
My first pup (many years ago!) slept in an orange box! But over the years, things change! 13 years ago I brought a crate (I wasn't keen, but it seemed like the thing to do)for a pup, we kept her in utility room and never shut her in the crate, she just went in and snuggled, also never used puppy pads, what's wrong with newspaper!! My boy now, never had a crate, had a basket which he chewed, now he's on the bed!! Also make sure your pup can't get near any electrical leads, like chargers etc, you will need eyes in the back of your head to see what they're up to!! But enjoy the puppy, tis hard work, but totally worth it, make the most of the time you have with them!
Another thing, hot water bottle, a ticking clock and the radio on low, not these gadgets you can buy and spend loads of money on, Ive had dogs all my life, I really roll my eyes at what folks charge for these things!!

He’s okay! He doesn’t like the crate at all but he’s gradually going in it for longer and longer each time! I’m still yet to leave him tho
Must admit none of mine were shut in a crate, but would use it to sleep in(I popped a throw over the top so it felt like a safe place!)
My last boy I just used a basket!
Oh it's hard to leave them at the start, I started by popping outside for 10 to 15 mins at the start!
Puppies are hard work, but so worth it, enjoy your time with him!

Just leave him for short periods of time, start off with 15 minutes then go up to 20 and then gradually make your way up to leaving him for an hour & longer. Praise him when you come back, make a fuss of him, give him a little treat too.. He'll learn that being left is not a bad thing and when you get back he gets a reward for being a good boy!He’s okay! As soon as we leave she climbs into bed and goes to sleep, doesn't whine at all when there is no one there to hear it

Exactly this yes! Never too much attention apparentlyMy dog does the same. He’ll sleep all day when we are at work but as soon as we’re home he will bark and moan at us… I think it’s just an attention thing! He gets so much attention but still wants more
