Preventing someone finding your profiles on socials?

So, I'm not sure whether this is allowed...

However, I really want to prevent someone finding me on Facebook specifically. I want to block them but it be assumed that my profile has been deleted. I made a separate account and searched myself on Facebook and I could still find myself, is there any way settings can be altered to prevent this?

If you block them they will not be able to find or search for you. They would still be able to find you if they looked on another profile. The other option is to make everything private (friends only) and that will limit what anyone can see. Could you perhaps drop your surname or change it one there so they don’t go searching?

Still...they want to block a person but want them to think they weren't blocked but that they had come off Facebook, so all that blocked person has to do is use someone elses facebook and still see they're on FB. I don't see anyway around this unless they also blocked everyone on that friends friends list in case they used one of their friends account to nose. Bit extreme!

Look at your privacy settings. Delete all mutual friends. Delete friends you don't really speak to or trust. OR you could deactivate your account and log back in when you want to have a look. My account is deactivated but if i really want to go and have a little Facebook stalk then I just log back into my account. If you want it to appear that your account has been deleted then I think this is your only option.

My husband has his settings so that he only appears in the search if you have mutual friends.

But guessing you have mutual friends so this probably isn't feasible

You used to be able to have your settings so you could be searched on fb

Change your name on Facebook. It might look daft but if you don't want someone to find you it's a good idea. My sister is a teacher and has her first and middle name as her name.

You can change a setting so you won’t come up in searches
