Pretty Little Thing deactivating accounts

Thought it’d be interesting to see how many of us were affected by PLT randomly closing peoples accounts due to “high levels of returns”. I got an email Sunday night and thought it was a scam or I’d been hacked. But now it’s all over the news and in the comments it seems they’ve actually done it themselves. Cannot checkout anything or place any more orders. Some people have hundreds in gift cards and have just signed up to their loyalty postage scheme. I don’t know what they were thinking, this has to be a terrible move for business surely?

Have they stated what the threshold is for too many returns? I mean, do people actually order stuff just to return it? Surely it's a feature of having an online business? You might order more than you need to try stuff on. The policy is the equivalent of taking items into a changing room and not being allowed to put stuff back and if you do, you're banned from entering the store. Bizarre!
How would you rate your level of returns?

According to the comments I’ve seen there isn’t anything to say what excessive returns would actually mean. This year I’ve placed 7 orders for multiple items, returned 1 single item (boots that didn’t fit) and also had a refund for a dress that arrived ripped to shreds 🥴 as they said don’t bother returning. Some of the comments I’ve read though say they have returned no items and also people that were brand new accounts that just bought the loyalty postage. Also someone said they return loads and are still active. I don’t doubt people absolutely rinse the returns by wearing stuff and sending it back and doing hauls maybe. And I’ve seen myself people in places like Next returning so many items ordered online . This seems more like a total random shut down of accounts though so it’s all very weird they’d stop hundreds of people from placing any more orders 🤷‍♀️

Sounds like a tit show in that case! Your returns certainly don't seem excessive.

Surely that comes with online ordering? you order it from home so therefore have to try it on and if you don't like or it doesn't fit, you return it? in a shop you would go into a changing room and try it on and leave it on the rail if you didn't want it.

I wasn't affected as I never really order from them anymore. I did order a dress recently which came ripped so returned that and had to pay 4 quid for the pleasure.

I don't think PLT are going to survive that much longer tbh
