Anyone else out there suffer from this hideous condition?
Acupuncture is helping but right now I’m feeling horrendous, on edge, very sensitive and sore all over.
Feel free to say hi 👋🏼

Thank you for this thread. I was diagnosed just before the pandemic. I thought I had anxiety and depression (was told I had severe depression) but I just couldn't get to grips with why and how it was only certain times. I started logging my bad times (I'd have rages, want to hurt myself, would lash out, I'd walk out etc) and I realised it was in line with my cycle. Went to the doctor with my diary and they confirmed PMDD. She said she had no knowledge of the condition so couldn't help me, other than say go back on the pill or get pregnant. Neither of which I wanted to do. Got pregnant last year and to be fair she was right, it pretty much cured me. Now my baby is here I'm dreading going back to that dark place. I take evening primrose which helps a bit but doesn't totally eradicate the strong feelings I get. It's frightening at times. I genuinely fear I'll hurt myself badly. I sort of have a red mist descend and the smallest of things can set me off. I also have impulse issues with spending etc which made me think I could have borderline personality disorder but they ruled that out. It's such a horrible thing that there's not enough awareness of. I don't even understand it myself as my doctor can't even tell me what's going on with me. She just said there's very little research into it. Why am I not surprised. Hope you're okay and finding ways to manage it ❤

If anyone has more insight I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Is it reallly possible to suffer with this while on birth control? Or is the witch control making you feel like this?! Google says can still be affected with in while on birth control.
I don’t want to self diagnose, but I believe I have this, yet I’ve been on birth control for a decade. I switched contraceptives at the start of this year and I’ve felt worse than ever.

Yes I have it and I was on birth control! I've recently come off birth control so I'm going to see if it helps at all.
If you feel super depressed, anxious, or even suicidal around the time of your period it is likely. Don't worry about self diagnosing, many women have to as we aren't often taken seriously!

I was on the pill for 11 years and I probably had it then too but didn't realise. The pill also contributed to physical issues such as IBS (when I came off the pill I no longer had IBS). That's why I don't want to go back on it. The hormones just mess with my body too much. PMDD is so hard to live with. I actually wish I could be permanently pregnant. Apart from the acid reflux I had a good pregnancy. My mental health was pretty much 80% better.

Does anyone else dread their cycle? I feel okay at certain points of the month then it hits me like out of nowhere without much warning. I go from being fine to being demonic. It's actually quite frightening and I do scare myself sometimes. I've learnt to deal with it for the most part but when it's particularly bad I'm frightened of myself.

I was in the depo injection, so had no bleeding whatsoever… I was on that for about 10 years! I’ve now switched to Sayana which I inject myself. Again, no period and it’s been so long since I have one, I wouldn’t know if the symptoms were more obvious around the time I would be due.
Since switching to Sayana in Jan, I get very teary over things and the other extreme is my temper. The littlest things make me want to combust!! 🤣😳

I have recently been to docs as thinking suffer from this
As well as all the normal rage and irritability, The thing I find hardest just before my period is the tiredness - my body literally aches just walking up the road and no matter how much I sleep and how well I do not feel refreshed.

I’m waiting on bloods but dr said I would most likley need antidepressants - just wondering how everyone else got on with them? Will they help with the tiredness?

I have bipolar so antidepressants weren't a good fit for me but one of my close friends has found they've helped so much. She's still a little bit down and tired but nothing like before. I'm incredibly jealous! I hope you find them helpful!
