Perfume for 13yo

I am considering buying my 13yo niece perfume for Christmas. My sister (her mum) won't let her wear any makeup, so I thought fragrance was a compromise on a more 'grown up' gift, which my sister has OK'd.

Any recommendations? £20 or less, and a fun, light scent. Would love something that looks pretty on her dressing table too.

Thanks!

Does she have a favourite celebrity or singer ? Lots of singers that tweens love have fragrances : Ariana Grande , Taylor Swift , Justin Bieber , Beyoncé , Britney Spears … one of those might be suitable ! I think they’re only £20 or so in Superdrug

I've just been stalking her Instagram for that. I don't think so, certainly no one like that. I know she likes Mabel and Ed Sheeran. I don't see her a lot cos they live 200 miles away, but I will investigate!

Depending on how grown up you want to go, Next have some for girls. My god daughter is 12 and she uses it. They aren't too heavy or strong.

Vera Wang Princess is a cute bottle and quite a sweet scent. Perfect for someone younger

My daughter has some nice ones from Hugo Boss, Calvin Klein, DKNY, Miss Guided, River Island, New Look and even Primark for everyday wear.

I’d avoid some of the celebrity ones.

Ooh body shop do a lovely one - Jasmine, it comes in an orange bottle. I started using it as a teen and still love it.

I used to like the Apple one as a teenager, I think it’s DKNY. I think it’s around the £20 mark and it’s quite light so not too “grown up”

Have a look in Superdrug, their Layering Lab perfumes are great for younger ones . They also do lots of others that are really good for tweenagers, I think they have Hawaiian Tropics fragrances too. You can probably get a few for £20, especially if it's 3 for 2.

Maybe ask her mum ! I don’t even know who Mabel is … I feel old 🤣

Ariana Grande, REM and Cloud are both lovely.
Britney Spears is a classic; I’m 36 and I’ve been wearing it for the past 20 years. Fantasy is sweet, curious is fresh smelling.
CKone is a nice long lasting fragrance but can come across quite masculine.
Lacoste Touch of Pink is really fresh and popular with young teens, and it always smells good.
DKNY Apple fragrance makes me bork but that’s because I wore it endlessly while pregnant.
Anna Sui sometimes smells like literal sugar but the bottles are so cute.
Ralph Lauren in the blue bottle is a popular high end fragrance for teens.

Before I was a nurse I worked for 4 years on the perfume counter. I wear Lush snow fairy, and Ari’s Cloud.

Ghost ones would be quite nice for a teenager
TOTALLY agree. I still wear Blue Ghost (the OG one) for job interviews as it smells great on me.

If she’s a little alternative, Vera Wang does Rock Princess. I wore Rock Princess at my wedding.

Thanks everyone.

I'll have a look at the suggestions. I had considered Ariana's and Vera Wangs Rock Princess (I'd like to think she might be a bit alternative as she grows up, but I suspect she won't).
