The video seemed really performative, just like everything he does.

Even his so called apologies did not hold a shred of sincerity.

His family deserves privacy, especially his children, who will be traumatised what they did see before they were ushered out of the house.

As for him and his past... he was and is vile. Not only with his revolting commentary, bullying and relentless abuse of celebrities, but outing those who were choosing to keep their sexuality private was abhorrent.
I wish anyone healing from a mental health episode. Beyond that, I think the man is utterly reprehensible.

He was running the knife over himself and not making new cuts. He started the live already bloody apparently. I haven’t seen anything that’s convinced me he actually harmed himself to the degree that was portrayed. It looked a lot like the prom scene from Carrie and the video that Arianna just dropped where she was covered in blood.
I hope I am wrong for being so suspicious of him, and expecting the worst from him. His stint in celebrity big brother did nothing to rehabilitate his already bad image

I saw the video without knowing what it was at first. I grew up in the rotten.com era and the perez video was by far the worst thing i’ve seen on the internet. it was like something you should never see. i only watched a few seconds but i just can’t believe tiktok allowed it to be continued. he looked like carrie all covered in blood

i’ve had several warnings on tiktok just for telling people to fuck off so what the hell were they playing at

also i was obsessed with his blog back in the day but like many people here stopped going on it when he became really malicious

I've found FB pretty bad for autoplaying horrific videos such as torturing babies and animals.

FB / meta has been blamed for genocides and the whistleblower showed internal documents that they conducted studies that showed how dangerous it was for teenagers but said they would do nothing as it would affect profits. My insta when you click on search auto shows a lot of stuff that I think would be so damaging for impressionable teens.

I think all social media / user generated content is a cesspit and they do the bare minimum to keep regulators at bay while maximising profits.

I was quite shocked the OP describes his drawing penises on celebs as not so bad as what would come later, from what I remember he was always a nasty piece of shit. The way he targeted Christina Aguilera during the release of her Bionic album was one of the more severe cases of someone using their platform to brutally bully someone who'd not done anything at all. Just because he felt it might threaten his precious Lady Gaga.

It's disturbed me to see people defending him but yet I can still feel empathy for anyone fucked up enough to do what he did on TikTok with children in the house to boot.

TikTok is horrendous. Leaving him free to stream for as long as they did shows who runs the platform to me and what they want from it. I truly believe it has caused a quite serious societal decline. I thought Twitter was bad enough for this in the 2010s - when Elon bought it and the worst users went off to BluSky - but TikTok manages to be ten times worse. It actively scares me.

I believe his mum lives with him to help with the kids as they are surrogacy children, Perez seems to be single.

I could only bear a snippet of the video but he was making lots of superficial wounds on his naked body, panting it hurt but that it also felt good. He mimicked slashing his throat.

I feel if it is genuine it was a cry for help.

It seems he may have been scammed to the tune of 10million$

I do worry about his kids, the home is not stable at all.

I watched a good portion of it and he was running the knife across himself and a lot of the time the knife was upside down. He didn't make any new cuts on the live. All the ones that cause the "bleeding" were there when he started the live.
At one point he joined a call with others and said "why am I not dead yet" and then proceeded to run the knife over his body making weird noises, but again, multiple times was the back of the knife

I don't know if that makes me a bad person for not believing but I'm sceptical

I reported one Instagram page showing the full video over and over... each report was either denied 'we didn't take this down', or 'we've hidden this from teens'.

I truly believe it would be a better world without the internet and smartphones.

The sister is asking people to not judge him by his actions years ago, but he did such harm to people with the way he reported on them. I was reading something on Reddit last night talking about how he was the biggest bully of them all to Amy Winehouse

And Britney Spear, and Rumor Willis, and Lindsey Lohan, and Taylor Momsen, and Jennifer Aniston… the list goes on and on. The guy was a complete POS, misogynist, stalker, bully - also evil to gay guys by publicly outing them without consent and no idea what the impact could be. He could have driven so many people to suicide by the way he treated them. The fact his family is asking for privacy and compassion after he invited this attention by doing this on a TT live is a complete joke, he’s also been sharing other health scares online for months before this latest stunt. He should have faded into complete obscurity decades ago but he’s obsessed by attention.

I questioned his religious claims. He immediately started selling merch. Religious movies and TV shows seem to be more successful then mainstream stuff, and some actors are jumping on the bandwagon. Him going from "I met Jesus" to this, only further proves my point. He's struggling, and I hope that he can overcome whatever it is, but he will always be a very questionable person.

I followed Perez back in the day when he had his website mostly. I recall the Katie Holmes pregnancy fascination he had was it about 20 years ago?

I have not followed him much in recent years. I read he had a health scare not too long and that he had then bought some bibles. I saw he has 3 beautiful kids by surrogacy and that his mum lives with him and the kids.

Quite shocking to see footage from TikTok of him slashing himself live for 30 minutes. 3 idiots join him live and don’t help much though it looks like commenters alerted emergency services.

There are also suggestions it was a stunt for clout. I’m unsure.

Anyway now he is under the spotlight, I hope he is okay.

I’ve seen some absolutely shocking videos and lives on TT and not been looking for them either, just popping up on my fyp,
sometimes people reposting them etc of people in active mental illness such as psychosis, people clearly high risk, actively under the influence of class a drugs or excessive alcohol, highly distressed , making terrible life choices on screen etc.
obviously this Perez thing sounds like another level but I’ve been horrified by what I’ve seen on there, with my having quite broad but ‘safe’ interests .
I don’t know how TT doesn’t have better safety measures, it’s an absolute cesspit of all humanity

Tiktok and X are the worst, people complain about FB and it’s not without its problems but i find far less shocking material on FB, maybe because it has stricter moderation or as a natural consequence of it being mainly populated by middle aged and older people as it is now terminally uncool. People complaining about the social media ban for under 16s need to be made aware that things like this can and do happen.

As for Perez, I don’t know. Obviously his judgement was impaired but doing that live on TT was really awful. Like he just wanted an audience for his pain and didn’t care about the effect on his kids and the people watching. It’s like a very extreme kind of narcissism.

im the same I’m afraid. Interesting his first words in the hospital were “suicide attempt” apparently because I didnt ge that vibe from what I saw at all. A bread knife in his hand, certainly. But scraping it the way he was? No.

Kind of a lonely life.

He has his demons perhaps his past haunts him, he was a cruel predator back then for clout.

His recent sepsis thingy then discovering God. If he was scammed for so much it’s easy to see why he spiraled.

I also feel the TT content is real, he will have a lot of wounds and scarring.

Hard to see what the future holds for him but his kids will be very traumatized, can he stably raise them alone?
