People who live alone, how much rent/mortgage do you pay monthly?

Just curious really. A lot of people in their 30s are still in houses-shares. Crazy that even with a good income living alone isn’t really feasible for most people.

Wow £352! That’s so low. It may be useful if we can add non identifiable locations onto this.. maybe the county we live in for comparison?

Come on Londoners 😂

I pay £1250 a month for a small 2 bed terrace, near London. My friend is greater london and pays £1600 for a 3 bed.

Another pays £700 for a room in London.

Hi all,
Wow, most of these rents/mortgages are crazy cheap to me. My costs over the last 2 years are as follows: £615 for a tiny double room as a lodger in an older woman’s house where you can’t use the sitting room (just moved out), £800 rent for small one bedroom flat until start of 2021, and before that £485 for a room and en-suite (friend of family rented it to me). This is near Guildford, about 30 mins from London.
I am now going to be (temporarily) a live in tutor for a family and have free accommodation so I can hopefully, finally save to buy. Unfortunately I’m single and haven’t had a penny of help (-and not suggesting I am entitled to it but everyone I know has had a little bit of help…which is nice).

Wow, Scottish prices are 🤩
(*except for buyers/renters in Edinburgh) 😂

I was lucky with timing (moved out of my flat in Edinburgh in 2017 to a new build further out). Got more for my money, being further away from the city centre, and had a half decent deposit from my flat sale. Prices have gone up like crazy round my way since then (still loads cheaper than the South East of England, obvs).

I live in a 3 bedroom council house, up north. I consider myself very lucky to have one as I was frustratingly trapped in the expensive private rental trap until I was 31. My rent is only £87 a week which is very cheap. There are private rentals identical to my home on this street that are approx 650-700 a month. I find this situation so unfair.
