Wondering if anyone has ever dealt with pensions, like getting their work place/private pensions all found an then grouped into one

My dad has a few pensions all over the place, some of the company's now are gone but I think the pensions were sold onto someone else, he's looking to try an find them all, we have tried pension bee an pension wise but both are mainly online an he is no good with technology, he needs someone to actually talk with on a phone or webcam etc, we have also tried some more private ones but one was looking for £1500 in total plus a extra 5% from each pensions on top, an we really don't know if this is the going rate or if it's a bit much

So has anyone had luck in talking with an actual human to do this, or have you done this on your own an could advise the best way to do it, thanks

Look here:

I’m confused where the 5% is coming from?
Thanks, they said it's like commission based so basically the £1500 is their work, an then the 5% is the commission for each pension they find, he has a few so that 5% on each is going to add up

I'll check this out, the problem is, some of the company's are no longer there so he really doesn't know where those pensions will have went so he won't have a name or any details of the new companys, just where they originally started

That isn’t legal as financial advisers cannot charge commission. Sounds like a dodgy company to me.

I’m fairly sure that gov.uk website above has a section where you can put in the name of the original pension provider and it will tell you which company has taken it over.

Thanks, we didn't know what is normal an what isn't when it comes to this so I'll stay clear of them if it's sounding like a dodgy company

Thanks, I'll go back an check, we had a look an because the main part said it wanted you to know everything then we didn't go further but I'll maybe need to go as far as I can with it an see how we get on
