I’m trained in both classic and Russian lashes.

Classic lashes - 1 false lash applied to 1 natural lash

Russian lashes - the art of creating a “fan” of very light-weight false lashes, usually (2-8) placed on 1 natural lash that gives a fuller effect.

There are weight for weight guidelines too, as well as length. You have to really analyse the clients lashes to see what weights and lengths are suitable for them which won’t cause irritation and damage.

All the ultra “thick and heavy” lashes like the pictures on here are gross and will 100% ruin the clients natural lashes. Contraindications is a huge topic covered when training. Things like, Epilepsy, styes, sensitive eyes, cataracts, certain medications and cancer treatments are all no-nos for lash extensions. You need to clean your lash extensions too and avoid makeup around the eyes as dirty extensions can lead to oil build ups (which can make them fall out quicker) lash mites and infections. A lot of techs don’t educate their clients on how to keep them clean.

The industry is becoming saturated with poorly trained techs and people who do a cheap training course online. Please never go to a therapist that has done “online training”

This is an unpopular opinion too (amongst beauty therapists) to not go for aesthetic treatments to a non-medic. The industry isn’t regulated and sadly there are no laws to stop non-medics performing treatments such as dermal fillers, Botox and microneedling which have many medical risks involved.

Poorly trained and under-qualified people are one of the reasons for this generations “botched” looking society 😣

Please ladies & gents if you want treatments doing, please please please research the salon/clinic. Check what qualifications and insurance your therapist holds and if they trained with a reputable company. And if you want any aesthetic/injectables please only go to a registered nurse/doctor/dentist.

Sorry for the rant.

To piggyback on this thread .. I hate heavy lashes, they somehow have the opposite to desired effect eg make the eye saggy looking and closed whereas they’re meant to open the eye..

Anyway BY FAR the worst trend recently is fox eye threads. I’ve forgotten the name of the woman/clinic who is notorious for this procedure; but basically all her before and after client pics , the client looks significantly worse after the procedure.

I will try to remember the name of the clinic/salon but honestly going on the ig feed is a wild ride, some of the clients even get a full package of fox eyes and a lot of filler in cheek lip jaw etc and honestly the end result is hanging 99% of the time 😞😞
Is it MCR Aesthetics , this crowd is notorious for the botched look

That's set off a really uncomfortable reaction when I looked at them. They look like the underside of a mushroom (which also gives me the same feeling). Eurrgh *shivers*

I love false eyelashes, I've been wearing them for 20 years, but I'm sorry those Russian ones look bloody ridiculous.

I just wear the ones I stick on myself - I did about 10 years ago have a girl come to my house to do 'semi-permanent' ones for me. I had my suspicions she stuck them on with nail glue (it certainly smelt exactly the same). Never again!

I hate the fact girls/ women walk round with these lashes and not a scrap of make up on, for me big lashes are a 'night out' thing, not everyday wear. The lashes, sharpie brows and lips that look like you've had an anaphylactic reaction (or been punched in the face) are like some starter pack for being a grotty chav. Pair it with some knock off Balenciaga trainers and a load of other tat straight out of Dagenham Market and you're away.

My husband is a GP and he has about 5 patients in the last few months who are having to undergo NHS treatment to correct Turkish procedures. For the risks involved it's not worth the savings.
It's so selfish - go abroad for a cheap procedure, and then the NHS have to pay to sort it out when you come back and it needs correcting.

They are called Russian lashes and I agree, they are hideous. I know someone who does them (she's about 19 and has a certificate off the internet) and she keeps trying to get me to have them. When hell freezes over luv!

I don't begrudge people having work done, but it's sad that everybody seems to look the same these days because of it. All the insta-babes look identical. The lips, the brows, the lashes, the tan. It's like they've all been made in a factory.

The scary thing is that people are having this kind of work done in their teens/early 20s. I think about the mental effects this must have, and when they inevitably start ageing will this lead to them thinking they need more and more extreme treatments?

Also in the way that the availability of internet porn has changed the way some men view sex, will they view women looks the same way, ie, expect women to look insta-ready the whole time, and see "natural" beauty as off-putting?

I've come across some woman and men on insta and in real life with proper duck beaks for mouths and thick oversized lashes .
Also ,what is the deal with the jaw shape filler . Might be nice looking from the side but front view it's making people look like aliens . Their chins are in the shape of a V .
It's not a nice look .

Lip fillers or any type of filler you shouldnt be able to see . That's only when it's done by a professional .

You have salon owners with no medical background preforming these services and people going to them because they are cheaper.

Always remember pay cheap pay twice

I remember going for training a couple of years ago for semi permanent makeup and seen photos of botched jobs .
Every salon seems to do it nowadays and some are horrific looking .
These are similar to a good amount of ladies who have tried to get theirs fixed 😳

These are the ones I was referring to larger than life aren't they 😳
Shocking
There's an insta page called lashes_by_naoimix she's doing them all and thick essex 2014 eyebrows
I never trust a beauty technician if their business name starts or ends with an X and uses underscores.

Lash extensions can look great but I find they stick out like a sore thumb if you’re not wearing make up.

Not a fan of the lashes especially but each to their own.

Lashify I think do a great DIY kit btw that looks better than lash extensions to me as in less ‘stiff.’

I’ve had my lips, boobs and butt done and although obviously a lot of people much prefer the natural look my surgeon (who’s very well known and well respected) always used to say it wasn’t his place to judge and didn’t agree with the good work isn’t detectable thing.

I like to look ‘done’ 😂😂 I have nothing to hide lol. The important thing is safety above all else. We wouldn’t judge a woman for having pink hair or tattoos or dressing a certain way, or rather we shouldn’t 😉

I don’t agree with Instagram accounts like the Consultant Clinic (who are scam artists by the way - please Google them, for starters the owner used to pretend to be a doctor and that is not her real face she shows on her page) and Dr Harris, who shame people for how they choose to look. At the same time though no-one should have an enhancement to follow a trend or fad obviously lol. At the other end of the spectrum are places like MCR which has a dodgy owner too and does the extreme opposite.

I’d like to think if you lot saw me you wouldn’t take the piss, I’m human too 💙

Talking of safety how crazy is this:

(Nose is super risky to inject by the way. There was another case that went viral not that long ago where another girl had gotten necrosis - tissue death - from a vascular occlusion ie blocked blood vessels)

I had to look up what fox eyes was, never heard of it

😑😑 Why the fk do I need to be cursed with these dumb ass trends, I swear if someone asks me if I had that done I'll smack them, thank fk I don't have thick ass lips to go with that daft trend either

I can't imagine what they will look like in 10 or 20 years time because obviously the face isn't going to age as it should, they going be looking like one of those lumpy mattresses that should have been thrown out years ago

Crazy isn’t it. Ffyona McKearing aka the woman behind Consultant Clinic needs investigating too.

Stole her husband’s business idea after pretending to be a medic and set up shop actually injecting people when she had 0 qualifications. Still instructs the staff, well the ones who are still left, most who found out she was a complete fraud have left. Also stole photos of another girl’s children to pretend there were hers and put it on her Instagram 😅

Left below is real face and right is the fake face she’s created with filters. She’s gone as far as using this fake generated face for YouTube as well lol
