Rebecca frustrates me in that she doesn’t always see the whole picture and assumes a lot! Free school lunches is/was a great idea but there has been a lot of waste as well. Not all schools who need it get it. Living in certain areas that seem higher decile schools doesn’t always mean those going to that school have what is deemed ‘money’. It’s the same as Emcult and her silly shopping costs. Her children get feee school meals so that is a big chunk of her grocery bill gone. Personally, I spend more on school lunches than I do on anything else. She annoys me as well as as a single income family (not amazingly high either) who gets no support from the government, I have had to work hard to get things I want! So yes, people look at me and will go ‘she’s done well’ but I made a lot of sacrifices and worked hard and saw opportunities when they came about. Rebecca would have a field day with me

Not to get political on here but the school lunch program only has a 4% waste rate, that’s excellent for a food program, especially with kids (David Seymour himself said 10,000 lunches are wasted out of about 250,000, which is only 4%). Obviously there could always be improvements made there and also with the quality in some places, but that’s no reason to scrap a program. Definitely agree with you that more schools should get it.
(Ok, off soapbox now. I just hate as a teacher to see that myth spreading as reason to kill the program.)

And yes, Emcult’s shopping budgeting is fucking bullshit. But she’s the cow who makes her kids buy their own birthday treats, so I’d rather die than be as tightarsed as her with money. She should spend some of it on buying her husband new undies with no skiddys in them!

MFM said no to Chloe going to a friend’s when Chloe asked. She was annoyed when Chloe took herself to a friend’s. The only way that kid is going to her friend’s is when it is organised 397 days in advance and Maria has police checked all adults in the household. She will be sitting outside in her car the whole time in case she is needed. She will read 97 books during this time.

In my experience of working in a lower decile school, a lot of the families who fit into that lower socio economic bracket, will still opt to send their kids with bakery food (pies, donuts, hot chips etc) because it’s the cheap food they want to eat. They don’t actually want to be served up some lettuce filled wrap. There was soooo much wastage, it’s often the kids who don’t really need those lunches, that eat them. Because they are used to eating that food. I might cop some heat for saying that, but it’s true.

And sure all parents have those moments, but Maria literally has no idea how to parent these kids for the particular stages they are at. Also she’s too lazy to pivot. So here she is with an almost teen and a 10 year old still talking to her audience about whether to use cloth nappies or disposables.

The only thing she can pivot is her finger on her hooch while reading smutty books.
