New flooring needed: recommendations

Doing my house up in various stages currently - I’ve avoided big companies and bought laminate directly from online companies like UK Flooring Direct and then paid someone to install it, or my boyfriend also did one room himself. It’s relatively easy to fit but you need a saw and quite a lot of equipment to cut it. Personally found it far quicker to hire a professional! In terms of carpet I’d probably google a local company who will probably be better value and service.

I need to replace my bedroom carpet and laminate in the living room which is proving a little tricky at the moment with so many shops shut. I ordered some samples from Carpetright as they said they didn’t do home visits where my flat is located (despite there being a shop a mile away ) and they only sent me 2 out of the 4 requested. They then followed it up with an email saying I could request a home visit. This has somewhat put me off.

I’ve got someone from Tapi visiting this week to measure and quote.

I’m keen to have recommendations for companies to approach, and to know your experiences with buying and fitting. My bf is keen to try and fit the laminate but I don’t know how easy it is. Any advice is welcome
