Just wondering if anyone has experience of moving abroad to continue their career in teaching?
I’ve been a primary school teacher for around 10 years now and I feel totally stuck in a rut with everything here. I feel more and more overworked and I’m spending less time with my family, without even having the benefit of being well paid for the hours I put in. My friend works in Qatar in an English school and loves it, but she moved over as a single woman and has met her husband there.
My husband’s job can be transferred to other countries quite easily. I have a 3 year old and I’m due my second child mid next year.
In terms of where I’d move to, I’m not entirely sure! The salary and work/life balance of the UAE is tempting, but it is a huge culture change.
Moving and continuing to teach is something i’d like to consider in the next 5 years or so, so just wanted to ask to see whether anyone has any experience of this? I’d hate to get ‘too old’ and regret it!
