I've never seen a biker thread so I thought I'd create one for biker rattlers, the family of bikers and wannabe bikers .

I'll share my motorbike story. I've always been into vehicles as a whole ,I suppose and I've daydreamed about motorbikes , but I've never made an attempt to have one myself, as it has always seemed like something for another time. My husband has mentioned that he fancied getting a motorbike, and I said I would ride it too, and I'd be willing to go through the tests to do that . Turns out my husband has got himself a motorbike licence. ( which from other threads people may know is another issue) .I'm at the very beginning of my journey. The motivation is there now and the enthusiasm always has been.
When I was a teenager, I had an ambition to get bigger motorcycles as time went by.
My first motorised transport was a Garelli mo-ped, a dreadful little hairdryer of a montrosity. It's only distinction was when the exhaust dropped off, and I travelled home polluting the streets as I travelled.
After serving an apprenticeship on a Yamaha step-thru mo-ped, I purchased my first proper motorcycle with the help of my parents, and a hire purchase agreement. It was a Honda CB100N. I really adored that bike, but I ended up selling it.
My next and last motor vehicle, was a demotion, another step-thru mo-ped. I ended up having an accident, tumbling over the roof of a car, when the driver failed to see me at a junction, and pulled out in front of me. I was lucky, I was wearing a rucksack at the time, so I was uninjured. But it scared me so much, that I never rode a motorcycle again. I won't even ride pillion on my partner's Triumph. I've missed out on so many wonderful journeys.
However since 2018, I have used a cycle. I do often think about riding a motorcycle, if I had the choice, I would buy a Mutt 125cc. A small but cool bike.

Not being a regular on Tattle anymore, I don't really comprehend the complexities of situations on here. I should have read your post on What do you want to rant about today, before I started banging on about my lame motorcycle experiences. If I came across as insensitive I appoligise.
Not at all, I asked for other people's experiences and you provided that .
From your post I'd say you do have the passion and the desire but mental trauma is harder to overcome than physical. ( also Id be nervous of riding pillion with my partner too, hence wanting to ride myself) .

My husband is the rider, he's has bikes since being a teen (over 40yrs ago) I trust him, but being pillion definitely opens your eyes to the amount of terrible drivers out on the roads, I see them on phones, ipads with breakfast bowls on their knees also simply not concentrating so they're all over the place. I've also noticed some don't like bikers especially when filtering so drive dangerously to try and stop you, it's shocking!
My husband has no experience of riding apart from lessons, and no experience of carrying a pillion passenger. He tends to show off in the car too. I might trust an older established biker , though.
I agree with you that a lot of drivers are terrible, cyclists too. It seems they dont care about being unsafe or dangerous, only about getting reprimanded. Then come the excuses .
What are people's opinions of their significant other getting a motorbike ? Like the midlife crisis way.
