My motivational story is probably more of a personal one, ironically it was 4 years ago the other day that I went to work with blood visible on my head and finally admitted the truth to myself that I was in a violent relationship. It was the day that changed my life! It took a good couple of years of counselling but I never wanted to let a domestic abuser ruin my life and take away anymore from my life.
Today I can happily say I have a lovely fiancé and we are hopefully moving in to our first home together next month. He is a fantastic role model to my son and I couldn’t praise him anymore for what he has done for us.
I was taught a massive lesson and was lucky to come away with my life and a 2nd chance.

Hello all :) I'm in the need of a bit of a pep talk and some inspiring stories. Very interested in stories of how you had a tough journey achieving something but stuck it out and it worked out, or maybe it didn't work out but something else happened which you think is even better than what you originally wanted. Thought it could he a nice and positive thread!

My struggle is career related but it can be anything really! Just something to motivate me to keep on plodding along 😂 it's been a few months of life kicking the stuffing out of me.

Wow that's such a powerful story and so brave too. Choosing to leave a relationship is always tough but I can't imagine how much so in that situation. I'm really happy for you that you got a 2nd chance at a relationship, to someone who sounds so wonderful!

Moving into your first house sounds so exciting! I can't wait for that one day :)

Not really that I'm struggling to be motivated at work just more like there are things I want to achieve that take time and are difficult and although I feel optimistic that eventually I will get there and know I want to stick at it, rejection and waiting can be tough! Career goals and some life goals.

I feel motivated through stories of perseverance or when unexpected alternatives happen. Famous ones are for example all of JK Rowlings rejections and look where she ended up!

An example of my own is when I had what felt like the worst break up to ever happen to anyone (I was so dramatic 😂 but it was awful, not gonna dwell on the story) but by going through it I really toughened up and learnt to value myself and haven't taken any crap from men since, and am now in a happy relationship which maybe wouldn't have happened otherwise.

Or an example of a friend who lost what she thought was her dream job and was unemployed for a while then doing temp jobs, she started volunteering somewhere to get out of the house and through that some doors opened to a career path that she never considered.

Is the struggle to stay motivated at work?

Are you looking at progressing?

I've had my non motivational days and weeks...sometimes i find something random work related to my job (but not bau) to improve a process or develop a guide for the same questions one always asks.
Sometimes its used sometimes its not. But i enjoyed doing something not entirely BAU

Sorry it wasn't overly motivational. But i thino it does depend. Some times its even a random compliment from senior staff that puts that motivation back in the game.

Can you reward yourself? Get x done by x and have a chocolate.

Get emails down to x and have a coffee break?
