Products with added spf don't provide enough protection from the sun. To get enought sun protection from a product with added spf you would have to use way more product than if you used a separate spf. You need to use a separate spf to give you enough protection from the sun. Spf should also be worn 365days a year no matter what the weather. Even when its cloudy and you can't see the sun it should still be worn. I use La Roche-Posay Anthelios Shaka Ultra-Light Facial Sun Cream SPF50 50ML. I find it doesn't make my face greasy and doesn't leave a white cast.

I wouldn’t trust a moisturiser with one inbuilt as it wont have enough to last the day.

I wear la roche posay anthelios (sensitive fair skin) on top of my moisturiser, let it set then apply make up

SPF 50 and on a hot day I don’t usually wear make up so re apply. It’s light and lovely.

Definitely use an SPF in its own right as opposed to in a moisturiser. I personally hate the sticky, greasy thick SPFs and buy Korean ones from yesstyle - they’re not at all sticky, they’re so watery and lightweight it’s a complete game changer x

Hey just jumping on this thread trying to find an spf to go under my moisturiser that isn’t greasy as I suffer from oily skin. Is the La Roche-posay one greasy?
Thanks
I looked around for ages to find a good one, was prepared to spend a fair bit as my skin is really oily and I didn’t want to make it worse! Saw this one had good reviews though so I gave it a try and it’s excellent. It dries matt so it’s almost a bit of a primer under make up plus it smells lovely!

I find biore watery essence a bit drying as it has quite high alcohol content. I like it at first but when I look at photos of myself in it I look quite old if that makes sense!

I do like city block as it has a slight coverage and since lockdown I’ve decided that’s enough for me (gone are my Estée Lauder double wear days!)

At the moment though I’m using mimtika and I really like it- enough moisture to not dry out over the day but not as greasy and heavy as I found la Roche posay and bioderma.

I also like one of the dermalogica ones but I can’t remember which and they are quite expensive to buy the wrong one.

Yours sincerely,

A ginge who has tried a lot of face sunscreens 🤣

I have oily skin and have been using VIchy Idéal Soleil Dry Touch Face Cream in factor 50. Find it’s a little sticky but sinks in pretty quick.

Also don’t forget your neck 😊

I use Clinique city block - it’s more of a BB cream, you can get it in spf25 or spf40 I believe. Have had it on while I’ve been out in the sun a lot at the weekend and my face is still pale - so it must work!

Is it comfortable to wear in the heat? I always struggle finding a good summer moisturiser, they all seem to make my face sweat

Arghhh really? I didn't realise it has a high alcohol content? 😅
I am olive skin toned but thought I knew it all with biore... keep the recommendations coming!

As an aside I am so shocked that so many people bypass spf! X

Aww thank you so much for all your recommendations I’ve been using biore watery essence but think I’ll give another one a go!

Oh I agree with the spf I was telling my friend and she’s like when it’s sunny I always put spf on! I was like no everyday and she looked at me like I had grown 6 heads 🤣

Do you put it on before or after you use moisturiser? And if before do you let it sink in first
Always after, you want it to be the last step in your routine!!

La Roche Posay do several amazing daily SPF with built in moisturisers, I’ve tried a few for various skin concerns and loved them all equally. I’ve tried Vichy one too but I found it hard to rub in and more like total sun block!

Moisturiser with SPF in isn’t enough. You have to apparently wear 15x the usual amount of it to get the coverage it states on the tube. You need to get a facial SPF and use that under anything else.

After moisturiser, it’s my last step in skincare before I apply make up.

Does anyone apply SPF if they are just at home all day? WFH ect. As the sun can still get you through windows.

I would highly recommend biore watery essence SPF 50. It is amazing and works well under make up too. I also like beauty pie spf 50.

I try to recommend the importance of spf to my friends but they dont listen! 😅

Thanks. Does that go under makeup nicely?

Hi,
I realise I need to invest in a decent face moisturiser after catching the sun over the last few days. I don't trust online reviews. I have very far skin and wear make up every day. Which would be the best reasonably priced one?
Thank you
