Welcome back, Supermodels!

Watched the first episode of In Vogue: 90s about the magazine during the 1990s. So far so good. You have Tyra Banks refer to herself in a roundabout way as a supermodel. The biggest annoyance is how Kim Kardashian has managed to insert herself. She was also in the Elizabeth Taylor documentary and talked about how they were great friends. In both cases she has litter to offer.

They have talked about the 1990’s British vogue cover shoot and how four became massive names: Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangalista, Cindy Crawford and Christy Turlington. I was wondering why Tatjana Patitz who also featured in the photo didn’t become a household name in the same way?

You can see in that photo where you could roll a snooker ball down her neck, which is what you see with Ariana Grande who won't admit she's got a problem. That's such an unhealthy looking photo for Vogue to use.

I think she was very brave to admit to her ED. She's been under incredible pressure. I see it more as acknowledging that you need artificial padding if you're expected to live up to your mother's impossible standards. Personally I think she's advertising that she's ill.

Again, she did not say eating disorder “She said she has had 'disordered eating in my life'

and she didn’t admit to the wearing of butt pads, it would be an entirely different conversation if she had

I think the main thing is that she admitted that she has a problem which appears to worry her and cause significant distress. She said that she was under intense pressure to be the non-problematical one out of the offspring and I very much was the same (my parents begged me not to be like my sister in terms of behaviour). Sorry I assumed that she had admitted or shown that she used padding. I'm ignorant as to what difference there is between disordered eating and an ED to be honest. I didn't realise that they should be seen as different but then I've never had therapy.

And I feel you on the non problematic front, my little sister was a difficult child, I had to behave because my parents didn’t have the capacity to deal with two little nightmares, and I always had to acquiesce to little sister as the house motto was anything for an easy life.

Thanks for the clarification. I suppose I look at the distress caused by food "issues" and not by the formal diagnosis (or not). BMI isn't relevant (although I easily"qualify"). I think this poor girl is suffering but maybe I'm projecting which is easy to do on these highly triggering threads.

Oh I hear you, and BMI has been removed as a diagnostic indicator, thankfully. I was cycling through eating disorders for decades before diagnosed.
