It makes me so angry (I know it shouldn’t affect me this much!) when I see posts like this. That downstairs bathroom is virtually new - the actual renovation of it is on the BountyMargate account and so much work was put in to that one room. And now they are touting for freebie wallpaper and replacing the fixtures because it doesn’t match the other bathrooms!

I think the lack of understanding the general public clearly have of influencer marketing is a huge problem? Like reading these comments people clearly don’t bleeping get it. They are the monetisable audience? They are being served with #ads from marketing teams via a couple in Kent. There needs to be more education on this in this country but it doesn’t serve brands to do so does it:

Also on their young parenthood - why were they both in uni so late? They said that they were finishing up final year and just getting jobs, in their mid 20s? I appreciate everyone goes at different times but... odd?

Agree on the class thing, they both expected to swan off to London and have a parent subsidised party for the best part of a decade before retreating back to the Home Counties to raise some kids (standard gentrifier lifecycle). You have to remember most of their priv school peers were likely becoming doctors / accountants / barristers / creatives / professionals and he was a recruiter and her pregnant, comparatively their set was a LOT worse and they were likely judged for that.

I’m not posh but was very academic, and I suppose ambitious. It sounds awful to type out but if a uni mate had gotten pregnant in final year and gone down that route I think it’d be inevitable your friendship would change / you’d lose touch eventually? You just don’t have as much in common, and the working mate doesn’t have the same amount of time to give? And tbh who wants to trek out to the ends to visit when you live with 2 other girls and can go have chaotic fun together, or have a boyfriend? Or can go to this food market or go see this play? It is the selfishness of youth, it’s normal?

I’m shy of 30 and pregnant now and would and can see it happening to me. All of my friends are ambitious / doing well (so was I, god knows how to define myself now) in their very varied industries, and unsurprisingly I am the first in my set of friends (not from my area or school, tbf kids from primary school had kids by year 8 so that happened decades ago) to be pregnant and it’s been quite an isolating experience in some ways? I can’t expect people to identify with every stage of my life & the decisions I make, but thankfully am self assured enough that the people who don’t (thankfully just had 2 dickheads and that’s another set of problems they have re their insecurittbh) don’t become my defining struggle story?

I’m not tone deaf enough to suggest because of that I am a child having a child either? I’m a fully established and independent adult who is choosing to pause my career & earning potential & tbh, social life to have a kid as my one non cancerous ovary is on loan from god 😂 so gotta make hay when the sun is shining etc and thank god I can!!

Sorry for the essay xxx
I was the first in my friendship group to have kids, I found it very isolating and my main regret is that I didn’t make more effort to reach out to local groups / meet mums in same situation. I had pre and PND which didn’t lend itself well to leaving the house let alone making new friends. I was also a bit of a snob and thought that NCT lessons were beneath me, looking back it would have been a great way to meet people to share common ground and possibly start new friendships. Because I was commuting to work pre baby I never had the chance to establish local friends and it’s taken me a long time to do that.
If you get any opportunity (obvs post lockdown) to meet other mums take it, that would be best advice I can give.
And when your friends are knee deep in baby and your’s is finally sleeping through and you’ve got some of your life back, you’ll feel content that you’re through the tough bit and can pass on what you’ve learned.
It’s a very difficult time to be pregnant I can’t imagine the added stress for you with Covid xx

Those wallpapers are dull, dull, dull.
They are just ugly and so wrong for that room. In his previous posts he talked about budgeting etc., and they are doing rooms that clearly have no issues. In her stories he says they “loved” the blue wood in the room yet she also says they want to change it!

I actually like the pink elephant one!

I'd like to see the book corner a bit more though. I've been spending too much time watching bookshelf tours. :m

For a beautiful account there's as_thornton

I don’t understand this! Why the hell does everything in the house have to match? Yes, people can have a certain aesthetic but it’s so silly to want everything in a house to match. It’s tacky and adds no character to the house!

Also I distinctly remember they mentioned, maybe MOD before Alicegate, that they’ll be staying in the house for the next 10 years rather than forever, so unless they plan to spend a ton of money on redoing walls these horrendous wallpapers are going to bite them in the arse!

Hang in a minute- this isn't the "forever home"??? The home the girls might one day bring the grandkids to? That makes it all even more shocking!!!

I saw that - thought, let’s hope he pushes the boat out and fits a loo roll holder...scabby gits! Surprised he’s not sat on there having a tit to make it look even more skank!
Let’s hope if they do push the boat out and get a loo roll holder that it’s brushed gold to match the rest of the house 🙄 because that is important.
Don’t know if it’s just me but that loo room looks fine. Like it’s not falling apart, everything looks in order. There’s no NEED to decorate it.

But, but, erm free things. Free wallpaper. Clementine wants free things and so the perfectly fine bathroom MUST be ruined with cheap looking gold things and garish wallpaper that will go out of fashion at the same speed as simple simons last bike ride.

That wallpaper costs £140 a roll. Same with the wallpaper from same company in their guest bedroom, so in that room several hundred pounds on the walls alone. Money clearly isn’t an issue.

Erica Davies had an advert/collaboration with Roger Oates carpets for her stairs carpet as far as I remember, no doubt this pair are hoping a similar collab. And I’m sure gifts of a mirror, a plant or whatever for the downstairs cloakroom would be gratefully accepted.

Wow, can I just say, after a week where I've had to apply for SEISS as I've not had an income since March due to lockdown, but all is good in the world again now I know the OD's will have matching brushed gold metalwork in all their bathrooms. The chrome had been bugging me soooooooo much.

He’s full of crap, he said he’s taking out the chrome fittings and replacing with gold as they want to match with the other bathrooms - yet the taps, etc in the girls bathroom are matt black aren’t they ?

Wait a few years until all that gold tarnishes, it’ll look awful.

And if you scroll back to the post where he showed the guest bedroom and some of the e -suite, the taps there are chrome and there’s a huge chrome heated towel rail.

Woah £140 a roll not even John Lewis charge that much, but if it's free why not?

😂 he’s actually making love 😂😂

Quick question for all you youngsters - I just took a screen shot of someone’s stories...my niece, who I sent said screen shot to, said the person who posted the story can’t tell when someone takes a screenshot 😳 is this true? If so Fodders must know I screen shot EVERY BASTARD THING HE POSTS...so I can scamper here and take the piss.

Please tell me it ain’t so?

Sorry making lovvvvvvvvvvvve as you do. 🥰

It's only snapchat that tells you when someone has taken a screenshot.

(I had snapchat but that was the first thing to go- last used it in 2017. I've deactivated my facebook account almost 20 days ago. Instagram I keep for the flower, cheese and book porn).

MOD & FOD 31: Plz insert suggestions here.
