It’s such a shame because I actually used to enjoy her videos and podcast, but now I can’t look past how unrelatable she is. She has so much potential and I loved the podcasts where she was researching into chakras and tarot and stuff but I can’t listen to someone say ‘how I have a good day every day’ when their day consists of just doing things she wants to do, not going to a job that she has to go to.
The latest news about a patreon has really rubbed me the wrong way. It’s so obvious that she’s chasing money (and fine! Everyone has bills to pay!) but she doesn’t have the audience for it imo. She needs to work on her main stuff, such as getting the podcast monetised and making her YouTube interesting rather than asking people for money.
Like I say, I actually liked her videos but it’s aggravating me that her whole ‘vibe’ is how we’re all going through the same thing in our 20s, but she doesn’t seem to know how the average 20-something year old lives - we’re not all doing 3 hours of work a day and calling that a hard days work.

her complaining that she got paid a third of what she was expecting and that it covers her rent and bills with about £50 to spare, but she chose to move into that apartment, she spends hundreds of pounds on things she doesn’t need so there’s no way i‘m feeling sorry for her, also her saying ‘this is your sign to be grateful for your 9-5 because there’s some serious perks’???? she is tone deaf i swear, she could easily get a normal job if she tried but she won’t because she thinks it’s above it and just romanticises the business girl lifestyle by sitting in a communal office space for a few hours a day and acting like that’s comparable to a normal job

The latest video was so uncomfortable. Saying she is grateful for gifted stuff due to being 'broke' but then going out shopping and saying she nearly bought a £50 skirt from Zara?? It came across as though she can spend what she likes because she will get gifted stuff so it doesn't matter eg. fake tan, clothes, hello fresh... totally tone deaf in the current climate.
I also feel sorry for her mate Imogen. Megan is always competing with the other friend, Gabby, to be the main character. It's so obvious that Megan wants to be like Gabby - mentioning dressing like her in the charity shop haul for example - such a weird dynamic and Imogen, who seems like the most normal tbh, gets pushed out a little. I guess 3 can be a crowd but it is blatantly obvious that Megan is insecure now she has gained weight (nothing wrong with that by the way and she looks great still but it's obvious she projects that attitude to her friends)

Playing the ‘broke’ card again 🥱 she’s trying SO hard to be relatable, yet complaining she doesn’t have money for clothes when we’re in a cost of living crisis and people can’t afford to pay their bills

open your eyes Meg
It you can afford to live in that flat in Manchester on your own, out of your own finances at her age, you certainly aren’t broke.

wait so her flatmate is paying towards mortgage, I mean it’s fair but oh that’d annoy me if I was the friend. I feel Megan doesn’t understand how privileged she actually is, and has always been. At university she never had to get part time job, but she also over expects.. like she definitely isn’t happy with her growth on her channel and social media. She thought she’d be the next Steven Bartlett😅
when she said she ‘doesn’t want to say privileged’ it just shows HOW privileged she is, she’ll also claim this was due to manifesting or some shit rather than her parents

Imagine telling thousands of people you ‘have no money’ and then buying a flat? Bit of a kick in the teeth for people who actually are skint

Excited to find this thread! I had to stop watching Megan’s content because it just wasn’t for me but I’ve been itching to vent about it.

1) the privilege! She’s so out of touch, I saw in one of the vlogs about the flat her parents bought her that she outright said she’s not privileged because they ‘worked hard for it’, ok sweetie they may have but you haven’t. Just accept how fortunate you are and move on.

2) the constant advice which is so condescending. Maybe because I’m older but she has no place forcing her ‘life advice’ down people’s throats the way she does in her vlogs (I haven’t even attempted to listen to the podcast). Why does she insist that she knows so much better than anyone else with very limited life experience. It’s always said in a way which is like “trust me I know”..based on what Megan? It feels like her advice is based on whatever Pinterest quote she liked that week.

3) she’s so busy doing nothing! It’s actually a little sad you can see she’s desperate to fill her cup and validate her time as more than just an ‘influencer’. She can’t seem to do it without sounding like she thinks her time is more important than anyone else’s. The rest of us are trying to juggle the things she does whilst trying to hold down full time employment etc.

4) the constant complaining about money. The fact she was complaining about affording rent knowing full well mummy and daddy were buying her a flat. Constantly saying things aren’t within her budget and then splashing the money elsewhere, she’s a pickme trying too hard to be relatable.

I actually think Megan could be quite an interesting influence away from the sad beige brigade but she’s so out of touch I’m not sure she can come back from it.

No literally even her uni videos she goes on a mini food shop like everyday before the gym or like every other day like you’d save so much if you planned it properly also congrats on getting her period whatever cause I know it can be frustrating or scary not having one for a long period of time BUT she complains SOOOO much about it like when she didn’t have it that was part of her personality now having one and experiencing the symptoms a lot of us get is her new personality like we get it. Her content being up north should’ve improved like show us Manchester, show us fun things to do their everyday it’s her running or w Tia we get it
I know I’m not finding it relatable her saying she’s got no money and then buys the most useless shit like is a really bright lamp urgent when the lighting in the flat is really bright? Also did anyone like the tea that she said a viewer messaged her saying ‘she’s clearly not poor’ and she got defensive and said viewers don’t actually know anything …. Hun we know you check here 😂😂😂

I think the thing with Megan is that she is VERY normal, which isn’t a bad thing by any means as I’m sure it makes her feel relatable to a lot of (young) girls, however her most dominant traits are all of the negative traits that people associate with teenage girls - bitchiness, negativity, entitlement etc. which makes watching her … boring and unpleasant? People try to move away from that once they grow up and mature and she isn’t evolving with that. It’s not like you’re watching an influencer at all, it’s like you’re observing a bratty teenager go about her day.

Yeah she says her parents worked hard to help her and her siblings out to buy property… so other parents who can’t afford to help their kids just don’t work hard enough?!? So so privileged and just zero awareness. I also don’t get how she’s getting any podcast listeners/views, whenever I see clips pop up on YouTube shorts she is terrible at interviewing people and just waffles on about nothing

I was surprised to find this thread but just wondered if anyone is in the same position as me. I do listen to the make life your bitch podcast, I’ve never watched Megan’s YouTube or followed her insta etc I literally stumbled across the podcast but after a few weeks of listening I feel like she really closes her listeners into such a small box in terms of being inclusive. She always refers to her listeners as young females and actually a few times has mentioned she doubts anyone over the age of 25 listens. In her most recent one she actually said no one outside of being 20-23 listens so don’t worry if you don’t have your life figured out etc, she related it to the fact that when FRIENDS began the cast are meant to be 24 so specific told her listeners were not even that age yet. As a 26 going on 27 year old I feel like she’s being so closed minded about her audience, it’s quite rude too to hear. Maybe I am too old to be listening to her podcast but I just like having podcasts on in the background of my day and it really has started to grate on me the way she puts her listeners into a very very specific box, it’s super off putting and I doubt I’ll listen again as I’m clearly not her target audience!

what took me back most was when she spoke about not feeling motivated, feeling lost, not having it all together, etc, then went on to say she’s going to become a life coach ?!

I think she just needs to try getting another job again, even just part time will give her some routine and purpose

Every week she self diagnosed or finds something wrong w herself whether it’s back pain, pots, her shins etc like she can’t just rest it’s like she’s tryna find a relatable thing.
Watch her come up w a brand soon. She’s not gonna be like 30 on YouTube

Like how is she BURNT OUT from work??? You get to sit in loungewear, go to fitness classes, see your friends n bf almost everyday, get free stuff and realistically the only financial responsibility she has is paying her rent and doing a food shop like influencers try to make themselves seem super busy. Her daily chores can be done in 2-3 hours
---
She’s ok linked in lol 8:16 in her new video
---
She’s broke but spends £15 on flowers … selling her car gives her some money lol she’s definitely scraping the barrel financially
