Do you guys meditate? Guided or on your own? Do you use and recommend any apps? And has it helped you?

Hello!

I do meditate, my friend teaches meditation - one thing to know though is everyone meditates in their own way!
Sometimes I follow guided meditation on YouTube, or I sort of invented my own way which I feel benefits me, so if something doesn't feel right don't worry, sometimes it just means you need to find your own way.

Mine is to listen to a song with headphones, first thing in the morning and do some deep breathing a little journalling and just close my eyes focusing on my breathing and clearing my mind.

This helps actually. The odd times I've done it I've found it very helpful but I cannot make it a habit and when I try guided meditation, pretty much all voiceovers irritate the hell out of me.

I use headspace as I find it pleasant and easy to follow. I fell a bit of track and haven't done it in a while and I definitely see a difference in how I feel

I've tried about every meditation app out there and like ten percent happier best. Balance comes second, calm third.

And I've just started a mindfulness based compassionate living course this week.

I've found that I don't get swept up by my emotions and thoughts as much and it really helps with anxiety if I do it regularly. I'm just less reactive and can look at things sort of from a distance. I don't have to identify with every thought or feeling, but I also don't have to flee from them

I use to do this every day, and it got to the point that I was visualizing colours when my eyes were closed which apparently is a wonderful thing to happen?
I haven't done it in so long and I'm so uptight and touchy, sleep is rubbish etc so I'm starting again tonight.
I tend to go on you tube and look for something to suit my mood for that particular day, the American stuff irritates me.
It does take a while to stop thinking about your jobs list etc, do stick at it.

Found this the case and I'm not even sure why. It starts to sound like shopping channel after a while to me.

@MeLlamoMiami I'll try Ten percent happier. Tried Calm but couldn't stick with it. Thanks!
Have you tried some nice backround music, ambient sounds on you tube is lovely and just sit or lie flat for ten mins listening, lovely and calming.
