Moisturise! Not sure if you'll be able to every time you wash your hands at work but get a good hand cream and cuticle oil and apply them as often as you can

One positive of the corona virus was that I stopped biting my nails and actually had lovely long nails. However because I wash my hands a lot at work, and use a lot of alcohol gel they have become quite soft and break easily. I've started taking hair and nail supplements but was hoping for some good recommendations. I'm nhs so can't have any coating on my nails.

I’ve been using a Sally Hanson hardening nail varnishes since having my acrylics off at the start of lockdown and they’re so much stronger. It’s just a clear varnish and I do it once a week, makes my nails look much nicer having a shine to them too

I used to have brittle nails but since I started eating protein bars and eating more protein, I haven't noticed them chipping or breaking as much.

I use nailiques, I have the most brittle nail and they went from peeling stumps to really long so I actually had to cut them in about 6-8 weeks.

Moisturise every time you wash your hands, multivitamins & omega 3, avoid soaking your hands in water for prolonged amounts of time, particularly hot water e.g baths, when washing up

The Body Shop does a lovely cuticle oil - it’s in a brush pen form and easy to carry around - just pop in on your nails every so often and it’ll help keep them moisturised and healthy 👍🏻

Expensive Option: OPI - Nail Envy
Budget option: Sally Hansen - Hard as Nails

I did the same as you and dropped biting my nails over lock down - OPI is fantastic but it’s expensive. I bought a bottle but dropped it and it smashed 😭 have been using Sally Hansen since.

You could get a gel overlay, clear builder gel with a matte top coat so that it looks like your own nails. That's what I used to have when I was in the NHS. Works a treat!
