I've heard about Le Mer basically being the same a Nivea but with a £100 price tag but what of the other luxury brands Chanel, YSL, Dior etc do you buy them, which do you recommend and are they worth the money?

LaMer is really not the same as Nivea. Ingredients are very different. I don't know why this keeps getting repeated.

Depends what you're after, the brands you've mentioned are pretty awesome at giving samples, so you can try and see what you like.
Ysl foundation is an old favourite of mine, always have a few bottles, well worth it, their skin bases and preps are great too.
Chanel bronzer (y)
Have a few foundations from Dior, they're grand.
I tend to splurge on my base and use drug store products for mascara etc.
I like CT lippies and eye pencils.
Get samples of La Mer the counter staff are generous, I've never bought it myself but have a stash ;)

I really like the creme de la mer and cool gel cream. La Mer does not have the same feel as Nivea. I don’t understand why people say they are exactly the same because Nivea has a bit of an odd scent imo, whereas the La Mer has a bit of a fresh scent (probably the fragrance). The textures are also different necause the Nivea is thicker while the La Mer is thinner than Nivea and La mer blends better and sinks faster into the skin. Just speaking from personal experienc because I know some people that prefer the Nivea cream, mainly due to the price. The best luxury skincare that I’ve used and still use would be biologique recherche. The products I recommend from biologique recherche are P50 lotion, creme iso-placenta, creme dermopurifiante, and lait vip02 cleansing milk because fixed my skin.

L’Oréal make most of the high end make up. So look at their own named stuff and you will most likely find a good dupe in cheaper packaging.

I thought the Nivea cream was similar to charlotte tilbury magic cream ?

I like too faced , Chanel and tom ford lipstick and the charlotte tilbury lipglosses.

I have a few lipliners from charlotte tilbury but they don't last long at all , I think Mac are better value.

Not sure if considered high end … but the Clinique moisture surge is amazing for dry skin!

A lot of the expensive brands are owned by the same conglomerates as the cheaper brands, but I'd say that's where the comparison ends ... La Mer is most definitely not like Nivea.

I've tried a few luxury skincare brands over the years, with my favourites being Christian Dior and Chanel, but ultimately my skin is so problematic that the only brand that delivers constant results for me is Dermalogica.

I love Chanel's cosmetics - the lipsticks, especially; By Terry is also fabulous.

I use beauty pie which I love- I didn’t like there foundation though, but the tinted moisturiser is amazing as is most of there skin care range.
I’ve never used a high end foundation, is it worth the splurge?
