Long haired ladies, can you help me?

I used to have very short hair, pixie and shaved at one side, but I started growing it out a couple of years ago.
I had it cut to an inch or two below my shoulders at the start of the year and then of course lockdown hit so haven't had it done again since.

Anyway, what I want to pick your brains about is straighteners. When it started growing, I bought some Remington ones for about £30. They did the job, but recently I find they're not as smooth going through my hair and I seem to have to go over it a few times.

It's past bra strap length now, seriously overdue a cut, but I think realistically it's going to be next year at this stage.
However I definitely need to replace the straighteners. I've been looking online and it seems to be a toss up between Cloud 10s and GHDs. I was talking to my long haired friend and she recently replaced her GHDs with a new pair after about 10 years, but she's really disappointed with the new ones. She's says they're nowhere near as good as her old pair were and she's sorry that she didn't go with Cloud 10s instead.

Apologies, this is turning into an essay!
What I'm basically asking is, anyone with Cloud 10s, would you recommend them, and are there any good offers on them anywhere at the moment, with black friday coming up this week?

Following as i would also like to know. My hair is longer again due to lockdown and I want to keep the length but my hair has very loose frizzy waves so needs a good pair of straighteners. I have an old babyliss pair but they don’t really work.

I have the Cloud 9 straighteners, I got them in a Black Friday deal 2 years ago. I got £20 or £30 off on John Lewis. My hairdresser recommended them, she’s had hers 12 years now. She uses them multiple times every day in the salon and they’re still going strong. She told me it was a couple who made GHDs and when they split up the female went on to make the Cloud 9 brand.
I think I they’re brilliant, the style lasts a lot longer than cheaper brands I’ve tried. I’ve never had GHDs to compare them though.

I’ve recently changed from GHD’s to Cloud 9.

I’d had my ghd’s for 12 years and they just weren’t doing the job anymore. The older models of ghd’s were a lot better than the newer one’s, which is why I didn’t stay with them.

Cloud 9 website seems to have about £20 off at the moment too ☺

I’ve always been a ghd fan. Had an original pair for over 10 years and loved them. But recently their age was really showing so I got the new ghd platinum + and I think they’ve been a lot better for my hair.

I have the GHD Platinum + and I love them. I originally had them when they first came out (as just the Platinums), around 6 or so years ago maybe? They broke twice (same issue) but GHD have replaced them each time, no questions asked, and the last time they replaced them they gave me the updated model (Platinum +). Their customer service is faultless.

I straighten my hair every day and find that these damage my hair so much less than other models I used to have - I get literally no split ends anymore. They also don't snag and straighten my hair perfectly.

I know it wasn't the question but I can't grow my hair past my shoulders now because it seems to change texture and the ends get all matted . Maybe yours does the same as mine.

I have almost bum length thick wavy hair and GhDs have always been my go to...but I'm now intrigued by these Cloud ones!

To be honest the best thing I've bought for my usually hard to tame hair is a Dyson airwrap. I could never leave the house without straightening my hair before I got one, now it's presentable just using the airwrap and I straighten any parts that have gone wavy around the front during the day if I need to.

I have long hair down to the middle of my back. But that is not lockdown hair, it is my normal length.

I have used GHD’s for the last 10 years. They have a wider plate which work well for my thicker hair.

Ah, no I just meant that mine needs a few inches off now due to split ends.
About 2 inches off and it would look a lot better.

I may have to look for a new hairdresser I think because I'm not very impressed with how mine has been during the pandemic, that's partly why I haven't been back.
I follow the salon on Instagram and none of the staff in the salon are wearing masks, just plastic visors and when someone is standing over you and breathing out of the bottom of their visor and down on top of you, I don't think it's particularly safe.

Forgot to mention, my hair is pretty straight, perhaps a very slight wave and not particularly thick.

I have Cloud 9s and they’re brilliant. Pretty sure there’s something about the guy who ran GHD jumping ship to them, they’re so much better quality than the previous GHDs I got a few years ago to replace my 10+ year old ones

I've always been a GHD girl but the last pair I had a couple of years ago have really not been great.... the whole point is so you don't have to go over your hair again and again to get the smoothness and I've found this pair just don't straighten it properly. My hairdresser uses Cloud 9's and I'm getting a pair from her when the salon re-opens as my Christmas pressie..... they GHD's are only one temperature (well mine are) and the Cloud 9 have different heat settings and seem to glide through my hair better.....

Has anyone used the Dyson Corrale on long hair? I'm quite tempted but not sure how it fares on super long length.

My sister has these and rates them but tbh I think they're only worth the money if you straighten your hair every day as they do reduce the amount of damage your hair is exposed to. They're ridiculously expensive!

I've got near hip length very curly hair and I use the wide plated Cloud 9 straighteners and they're amazing, far superior to GHDs in my opinion! I only need to pass the straightener through each section once whereas I find GHDs tend to pull the hair a bit too much.

I’ve heard this a lot. I bought one of the newer GHD’s a few years and it’s absolutely rubbish, it snags and pulls my hair out. Wish I’d immediately returned it but I was lazy.

Never heard of Cloud 9 so will look into this.

I had original GHDs years ago and they were brill, about 6 years ago they died (after having them at least 10yrs) and i got a replacement and they were good but not as good as the originals. My hairdresser reccomended Cloud 9's about 2 years ago and i've not looked back - they are amazing, i have very thick hair and they glide through it

I got cloud 9s to replace my GHDs and find they're much better. I can't see myself going back to GHD.

I am intrigued now, all this talk of Cloud 9’s.

I am happy with my GHD’s and they do a good job with my thicker hair. But it is always good to have an alternative.
