Thought I’d make a thread after last nights announcement of a new female singer, single, album and tour.

I’m excited. She’ll never replace Chester and she’s not been taken on to replace Chester but her voice is brilliant and I’m glad to be getting new music.

I'll be interested to hear the music..
Chester could never be replaced. I still listen to Liinkin Park and think their music has aged so well. I hope the new music is decent.

I think it would be an insult to have a new singer who sounds the same as Chester. He was an extremely talented singer and he'll always be missed, by getting a different singer who sounds completely different means that Linkin Parks chapter with Chester can never be mistaken for someone else's voice. The new singer sounds decent too I hope she gets a fair chance as a lot of fans for this kind of music genre are bigots as much as they claim not to be

Many fans are not happy with the pick and I don't blame them.

The fact they had endless people to pick from but decided on a Scientologist who is not only friends with Danny Masterson but went to court and defended him even after everything came out about him is an own goal. More so, when you remember Chester himself was a grape survivor. It's also telling her Wikipedia page has been completely scrubbed the last few hours whenever anyone posted about her being in Scientology.

I must admit I heard the song this morning and it seemed to my old ears typical Linkin Park with a female vocalist it was alright for first listen, I thought it was Lizzy then realised didn't seems are powerful as Lizzy.

A video of the whole show, if anyone wants it.

She sounds good, excited to get some more music from them. No-one will ever replace Chester but selfishly I'm quite pleased they reformed.

Wonder if Chester's wife No2 will get all the royalties? I read she was a horror to his first wife.

Just seen she’s put out a statement 😬 I don’t know how true it is as I didn’t check but people were stating she was still following him on Instagram until yesterday

Shame she's been met with such controversy. I think it was inspired to have a female vocalist step up. No one is ever going to replace Chester. I think Lauren Babic would have been an excellent choice though. She's covered a few of LP's classics and her voice suits them really well, without trying to "be Chester".

I think people forget the massive album and shows they did with Jay z who has always been questionable. She was born in to scientology (I think) so doesn't know any different, it's hard to break away from these places. And as for her friendship with Danny, I think we'd all do our best to support our friends until we were met with the evidence of their guilt and going by her statement it sounds like she did just that. I think people are clutching a bit. The band will never please everyone I suppose but I feel like real fans should be a bit more practical and be happy they have a great band back

That whole album is epic!! Losing Chester was like a dagger to the heart for a lot of people and listening to some of their songs is still super difficult, even now.

I don't mean it like that, it's more that they're picking apart Emily and questioning the bands decision to bring her on yet they all ate up the album they made with Jay Z when him and his wife are probably one of the shadiest couples in the music industry 😂

She put that statement on her stories so it’ll go after 24 hours! Should have put it on her actually feed. People said it wasn’t years ago she went to court but May 2023. Scientology doesn’t believe in mental health problems or support for mental health issues. With their lead singer dying by suicide I want to know what Linkin Park was thinking having a singer with these beliefs as their new front woman.

No matter who was chosen, some people will be unhappy.

Chester will never be replaced, that is very true, but I think the new singer's voice suits Linkin Park very well.

I'm just really happy that the band feel able to carry on, without having a mass departure from their signature sound.

Most of the songs are about his depression and mental health so I'm surprised or is even willing to sing about it seeing as how they don't believe it is a thing.

Even after he was charged and everything was made public, she still defended him. She and others went to the court to try and intimidate people into not testifying against him. The only reason she didn't is only so many were allowed in and she wasn't one but she stayed outside 'in support'. She was also still following him online up until a few hours after the backlash started so in this case it isn't that she didn't know any better and just wanted to believe a friend was innocent...she knew what he did and still defended him.

Chester’s oldest son has is an interesting account to follow at the moment. He’s been dropping loads of tea over the last few months and is fully outraged over the band getting back together and the lack of mention of his dad

That's the thing, even taking the Scientology thing out of it, there were obvious parts where she struggled especially during the screams. Countless women could have done it and not had any issues with vocals. Lauren would be a perfect choice as she has shown she can go as hard live as she does on recorded tracks.

I've just been listening, she's really struggling with the screams. Sounds like she's not training in the correct method of doing it at all, and will ruin her voice within a few gigs. 🙈 Sounds like (a not very good) covers band to me.

I was excited to see what she’d be like and I think she’s terrible. She doesn’t seem to have any of the singing styles she jumps between down at all. I went to Linkin Park’s first tour* in the uk years ago and Chester was amazing vocally. She’s miles apart.
I knew nothing about her, I’d never even heard her name before but the stuff mentioned on here makes me think she’s not even a good person as well as not a good singer.
*edit because I’m half wrong, it was the second time in the uk, the first being just London.
