I’ve been following LC for a few months, more so out of curiosity, and recently came across this thread when she mentioned you in her stories.

I’ve been feeling insecure about the fact that I don’t have (read: can’t afford) long weekends away with my girlfriends in luxury accommodation, or long lunches at fancy restaurants. I’m been questioning if I’m boring or there is something wrong with me because my go-to catch up with a girlfriend is at the park with a coffee or their place for a tea or wine. None of which is scared on social media.

Then I saw Leigh’s post this morning about how necessary and important it is to have a weekend away with your girls and that we should BOOK one in now. I knew her weekend just past was sponsored but in this moment there was no acknowledgment from her, almost implying that she had paid for it.

Then that inadequacy started to creep in, and I realised why. She was telling me in order to have the same cup-filling as she just enjoyed, I needed to go book and pay for it, nevermind that she just had it for free, or sorry, in exchange for a few token #gifted posts.

Safe to say my curiosity is over and my self worth is more important. Unfollowed. Thanks for giving me the strength to do so.

Guys I’ve got some great budgeting tips. Be a white, thin female Instagram grifter and never have to pay for things us mere plebs or ‘assisted living’ types have to pay for again such as; cleaners, clothes, frozen food, meal prep boxes, beauty/body products, grange, candles and all the other shit we all have to pay for but this idiot gets for free and then preaches to us about budgeting. I mean you honestly couldn’t make this shit up!
Leigh, you have one kid, live in a tiny inner city apartment, are married to someone earning a reasonable income and get a lot of essentials for free. Just shut the fuck up.
I don’t believe you are contractually obligated to post dumb, stupid, ignorant stories from your car every morning. Nobody enjoys them surely. Stop already. It’s weird.
And your poor neighbour. That was so fucking ick. ‘We don’t want gentrification’ lol! Your historical comments all over the internet would say otherwise. The internet is forever, sis. 🤮

I’m so glad I found this forum and that other people feel the same way about LC and her posse!

I used to really like her. We went through fertility trouble at the same time and I have a child the same age as her son and used to find her content relatable before it became all sponsored and showing off all her wealth and freebies.

She became problematic for me last year with the lockdown when she would whinge about how hard it is to WFH with a toddler and stressful #mumlife. Her kid still went to daycare most of the week and her work was hardly that difficult to do from home when there were health workers trying to work and manage kids, daycares closed and people with proper jobs trying to WFH and do home schooling. Her friend Brooke seems like a much more hands on parent and manages to be a full time lawyer.

I don’t know why she goes on about wanting another child when she seems to barely parent this one. She dumps him at daycare early morning until late not because she has to race to work but to do her car rants and selfies and go to Pilates. She always goes on about her busy she is but last time she said that, her stories were of having Pilates and coffee and going to a fancy lunch.

She would not survive if she had to work full time like normal people and parent and try to include things like gym and shop in their free time on the weekend and not have the luxury to do it during the day, child free.

Sorry for the rant but she’s become a real hate watch for me, and now with all this racism and showing off, I think it’s time to unfollow.

On remembering this, yes your right. She’s such a gross entitled cvnt. Not to mention she spent the lockdown whinging about not being able to have her free cleaner clean her flat.
So entitled. We all carry different loads, but when you see a wealthy woman from a privileged background, whining about ‘rest’ when she has one pet, one child (in full time daycare), free house cleaning, free multitudes of other items, part time flexible job, husband in well paying job, free mini vaycays, staycays, and jetting off on international holidays, it just misses the mark. As a vet and single mum of a toddler, I work my butt off and haven’t been on a holiday since 2018, (not complaining, love my life) but gosh sympathy is ZERO for these fake grifters hey!

I watched Leigh’s silly rant about Tattler- I found my people! I love to chat about the ridiculous things these influencers go on about - leigh is beyond obnoxious. I DM’d her to say I think it is inaccurate and off putting, perhaps even lacking the gratitude for us- her audience she outspokenly requests from her followers- to say she provides us all info for “free”- it certainly is not free! There is a transaction at play, without an audience, she isn’t securing paid content deals! We may not pay however we absorb her endless advertisements for the pleasure of her “expert” advice. I worded it in a much more polite tone. Her DM back was so rude “are you paying me”. Then she blocked me. I get it, not nice to be called out. I’m also eastern suburbs born and bred as a previous commenter mentioned- she is ALWAYS talking about her amazing income and lifestyle- not humble and not even slightly accurate.

Okay new member here. First post and considering it was LC that got me here I felt it was fitting to post on her thread. I took screenshots from her photo shoot a few weeks ago with her new biz. She blanked out the name but not the location so I followed the trail (okay, it took a second) and we’ve got the biz name. Have just seen today they have an Insta page now. Seems she’s going to be tapping right into new mums under the guise of ‘self care’ while ‘self caring’ for her bank balance….

I’ve been following LC for awhile. I listen to a lot of podcasts including You Beauty so probably heard of her through there.
I do feel that’s she’s changed lately. She used to be more relatable and down to earth. At times now she comes across as privileged, arrogant and annoyed at her followers.
I absolutely get that paid and sponsored content is how she generates her income but if you are plugging everything from shoddy cleaning companies to meal delivery services and are stepping further and further away from the beauty content then you have to take on board some criticism for that. I feel like she will promote pretty much anything if the price is right. And this makes me less inclined to purchase anything because her opinion is based on payment. If Urban Cleaning company came and cleaned my home for free every week I’d be singing their praises too.

I know she doesn’t work for us but if we didn’t exist she couldn’t be an ‘influencer’ she would have no one to influence and unfortunately if she’s promoting things she needs consumers to buy them. No followers = no income. Where else she earning her money from besides the podcast?
The comment about being able to call up and get a free hotel stay whenever she wants annoyed me. For most people an overnight stay in a city hotel is a huge luxury. Check your privilege LC!
As to her thinking we all lead sad, pathetic lives ….absolutely not! This is a bit of light entertainment, nothing more.

So surprising…another free hotel stay for Leigh Campbell. Is that 3 just in the month? And will anyone want to stay there now they thing it’s haunted??

I think Dry July is a fantastic concept, well done to her for raising $10,000 but I think she’s completely missed the point. What did she actually do? If you’re drinking every weekend because someone bought you a ‘ticket’ you’re really not doing Dry July. I thought that the tickets were there for a special occasion like a wedding or your birthday where you might like to have one drink. Years ago before it all went online the person participating in Dry July had to buy themselves a ticket. It should really be set up so you can only buy a limited number of tickets for someone.
It's like someone raising money doing a marathon run and they’ve caught an Uber for half of it.

A whole thread - wow, I have so much to say!!

I still quite like LC and I do follow some of her beauty recommendations when they are legit. She seems to try really hard to make her recommendations seem genuine but I think it’s pretty obvious when it’s her real opinion or if it’s paid.

The thing that gets me though is the weird flexing of her “wealth”. I'm eastern suburbs born and bred and I still live here, and I have never felt the need to talk about money. My friends and I laugh at people like LC because it’s SO OBVIOUS when someone has moved here for the clout. Genuine wealth doesn’t flex. It’s a given.

In saying that, I can think of at least two other women I know IRL who have recently turned 40 and they're starting to act a bit like LC. It's like they've hit 40 and perhaps their life isn't where they thought it would be so they're trying to convince themselves (and everyone else) how happy they are.

I was a bit offended when she said in her stories that women don't like other women earning $$. Seriously? What is she basing this on? I don't think about money or how much others are earning. She seems to think and talk about money ALL THE TIME - why though? How often do we hear Amy Gerard or KFE talk about their income?

Final thought (for now!) - my dad passed away recently too and it is earth-shattering. I totally understand the shift towards living for now, going on more trips, going for dinner more etc etc. But then she said "I'm shopping more now". Everyone is different but losing my dad made me shop less because I realised that "stuff" doesn't really make me happy. It's people and memories and experiences that are most meaningful. I get massive anxiety when her camera moves and we get a glimpse of the mess in the background.

I love Tattle, so many LOLs!

Oh gosh, please don’t beat yourself up and try to remember that what they post is not real life.

They couldn’t afford their lifestyles if they actually had to pay/were living on their ordinary income without the “side hustle” to normal people that follow them on Instagram.

They are simply whoring themselves out to anyone that will pay in order to make money. That’s all there is to it. Definitely not something to aspire to. Value your coffees in the park with your mates. That is real life.

That’s an improvement, if ever I’ve seen one.

She’s got smokers lips; said it before, I’ll say it again.
My friend saw her and Tegan at the park recently with the kids and said they were both sneakily vaping in the playground … is vaper’s lips a thing too?!

That was just her hinting to give her another free weekend.

Repulsive.

What the fuck would Leigh Campbell write about?! Honestly?!
Can you imagine the condescending, passive aggressive tone her book would be written in? It would require a shitload of editing. She mentioned she'd like to write fiction. Let me guess - about a girl who moves from the western suburbs who ends up working at a fashion magazine as a beauty writer? Original. Other possible topics- fertility or beauty 🙄

I would like to thank Leigh for directing me (and many others) here, through her rant about Tattle on her IG AMA. It was then that we all discovered the racist/fat shaming comments made by Leigh, Kristin, Jade, and more of Amy's racist posts. Now, we also have a Mamamia thread, following on from comments and chat about Leigh's (shit) content. Thanks Leigh, and I bet Mamamia thanks you too!

I can't stand the way she carries on about always needing to be busy and efficient, is too busy for TV, and so on. Stfu. You're not a health worker, you're not an educator, you sure as s..t don't save lives, you're not a single mum, you're not on the bones of your a.s. Just shut up!
And she was totally gaslighting having a picture of her cat with 'Rest' and angel emojis next to it on her story. Trying to get sympathy and concern.

thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I really appreciate it and agree with you.

Not everyone can just get their girlfriends and book a weekend away.
Or score a gifted weekend.
Read the room for once.
So bloody privileged and ignorant!
This was what I didn’t really add to my comment was that I don’t actually care she is doing those things but there is never any acknowledgment of the privilege. It’s always just the whole “bae you have to make time for you okay!!” attitude. It’s not always that easy.

I totally understand where you’re coming from! I personally don’t think it’s the norm for adult friendship groups to take whole weekends away. Outside of a hens party or milestone birthday etc, it’s rare to be able to find the time! In an ideal world of course we would all plan trips away all the time, but jobs, children, family commitments and “real life” all get in the way. Catching up for a coffee or a wine at a friends house is one of life’s pleasures. Don’t worry about these f*ckwits. I’ve never felt the need to drunkenly slap my friends in the face with a tortilla and post it online, or spit water all over the floor of a beautiful holiday house. They are NOT like us- and thank heavens for that.
Thank you so much for the reassurance! I have to say I was really shocked at the slapping and the “mocking” of the Irish Dancing from Amy. All fine to do in private but when you’re 40 and have a personal brand it just seems a little strange.

Thanks everyone for the likes and hearts too! This is my first time posting and you’ve warned me up thank you. 😊

Hey!
This is my first time posting but this really resonated with me.
The whole MPlus and mammia out loud group for instance come across like some strange worship group directed towards Mia, Jessie and Holly. It’s like a group think cult where they say they welcome and encourage different points of view but their followers are just feral if you have a different point of view…
I really don’t understand their weird fascination with Jessie’s engagement either… wtf?
Yes it’s really odd. Falling over each other to thank them for their content and worship their every move. I used to read Mamamia a lot but now it’s just an advertorial and bad podcast sausage factory. No one is allowed to say anything negative in that group.
Also, it’s weird that Jessie is marrying Mia’s son. Really weird.

And they are all links to Iconic so doesn't matter if you click one she will still get her small commission because it's all from the same place. This is the tackiest thing I have ever seen from her
Always so righteous about influencers making correct declarations, then being the sneakiest of them all.

Yeah I agree. I have liked her for ages, and still follow her but find her more and more ‘off’. I wouldn’t be surprised if it comes out in the future that something major was going on, like she and her husband were about to split or something of that magnitude…(not starting any rumours I have NO intel that even suggests this).
Just that she is so different and on edge, and seemingly fake I think there’s something personal going on.

I’ve had a few interactions with her (responsed to stories) and she normally responds, and nicely. It’s weird to hear her complaints about how people engage with her online as I don’t think I’ve been any different (in jumping straight into a question nor comment, not asking how she is first 🤷🏻‍♀️)

This is what I was trying to say a few pages back but I obviously didn’t articulate it very well. I think she has gotten to the age of 40 and realised she’s not where she thought she’d be. And that’s tough. I feel for her. And the recent post asking "guys, are you comfortable in your own skin??" is a giveaway isn't it?

In my mind there are two types of influencers. There are those who set themselves up for aspirational views. These people seem to lead charmed lives, they don’t share anything private or bad, they tag and style their pics, and I don’t think we ever hear their voices. Everything just looks perfect.

Then there is the other “everyday” influencer. They talk to camera, they show good and bad days, they share EVERYTHING and they laugh at themselves.
Leigh’s friends like AG and KFE to an extent, fall into this second group. I think Leigh does too, even though she desperately doesn’t want to. She wants us to envy her lifestyle and aspire to be like her. But that’s not going to happen. And that’s ok.

AG pokes fun at herself (in an annoying way but she does try), Tegan doesn’t pretend her life is glamorous. AOA talks about her struggle to relinquish control in certain situations. And people relate to this which is why they are so popular.

In terms of branding, an aspirational influencer might be David Jones. But an everyday influencer might be Woolworths. The market share and demand for Woolworths is huge, it's nothing to be ashamed of. (At least she's not Aldi like DaDMuM)

And I know she’ll read here and roll her eyes and say we have too much time on our hands for analysing her like this. But honestly, it doesn’t take much time or effort to recognise it. Look at all the people who have come to Tattle because of her shift in attitude.

A few years ago, had Leigh gone to Europe she'd have shown some excitement. But now all we see is her smug face. It's not unattainable to go to Europe. Cheap flights, free accomodation and the multitude of freebies that she keeps bragging about, makes it pretty easy for someone like her to go overseas. However, if ever there was a time for her to change her brand to be more of an aspirational influencer, then that was it.
But then a few weeks later, she's back to dancing like an idiot with her girlfriends and getting angry because people assume she's drinking. Well, which is it? Are you a serious, aloof goddess who travels the world looking glam? Or are you an everyday Sydneysider just hanging with mates?

Embrace who you are and stick with it. The everyday schtick has attracted over 70k followers, why change now?
