I have a specific question - when do you use bio detergent?

If I have delicate or woolly clothing that gets a wool or non-bio detergent. Anything I’m worried about fading gets non-bio.

If something says it needs to be washed at 30, does that imply it’s too delicate for bio? If you have cosy tracksuit bottoms, should they get bio or non-bio? :(

is it better to wash sheets on hot (60-90) with non-bio, or warm (40) with bio? Towels?! I barely ever use the bio ATP.

Help a girl out 😭 Happy for this thread to take on other laundry-related questions

I use bio for everything, but don’t have anything that I think is delicate like silk etc. I do use a colour powder for colours and a whites powder and oxi bleach for whites though.

I wash most things at 30 but do sometimes soak things overnight if stained etc.

Never given it a thought.

Just checked what in my cupboard and it's non bio. Everything is washed in that, can't say I've had a problem. Probably used bio in the past.

Here’s what I do (which is what my mum taught me haha)…

Split washing into whites and darks/colours and wash on 40 (I know, I should probably 30)
bio - whites
non-bio - darks and colours

I have no idea on washing cycles, just tend to do on a mixed load.

but if the label is specific, I make sure to follow that. For delicates, I don’t have many so just then hand wash them in the sink with liquid that’s marked as suitable for delicates. If it’s a nice wool jumper I’ll do in the sink, but if it’s a cheap one I’ll just chuck it into the appropriate colour pile.

towels - 40 degrees (my old towels I used to do at 60 but I got new ones so follow those instructions as I don’t want them to shrink or anything). Follow the same detergent/colour rule as above.

sheets - 60 degrees with same rules above.

I neverrrr use fabric softener. it affects the absorbency of towels, makes clothes more flammable apparently, and leaves a bit of a mask over what you’ve washed.

bio is apparently good to use every few washes as it also helps clean your machine (not sure if that’s a complete fact)

my boyfriend on the other hand couldn’t give a duck, so when he does the washing he chucks everything in one load with the closest detergent 😂

Everything gets washed at 30 here, with non-bio and fabric softener with a couple of exceptions:

Sports clothes get no softener
Sheets and towels get washed at 60
