Laser hair removal, who has had it?

I'm seriously contemplating getting my legs lasered, I have epilated for years and have patches on my shins that are bare. A place near me does 8 sessions for around £750. Anyone had any experiences with it? I also want my bikini line done.

I strongly suggest you get the lumea ipl machine for £220 and achieve a better result by doing it yourself. I paid way too much for sessions previously, I now have the machine and it is much better. I am hairfree

I was looking at this, my epilator battery is going and I was wondering if they actually work as my epilator costs close to 200. Did the sessions not work for you?

Me! No regrets, it’s amazing. Money well spent
Am i right in thinking I have to shave the area before a session? When did you start noticing a difference?

Yes life changing but it doesn’t all go after 6/8 sessions. I had sooo many on my face and now it’s really fine and not noticeable. My arms have had the best result. I think I only did 6 on them and again, hair is fine and not noticeable. I had this done a few years ago so maybe it’s more effective now.

Wow! I’m going to look into this. Thanks. Is it fiddly to use?

I got the Smoothskin Pure in January and have had amazing results, much better than I got with my lumea. I think if I understood it correctly it has a stronger flash, it’s also a lot lighter and flashes faster so I find it takes less time than the lumea did. The Lumea is still very good though.

Is it safe to use on the bikini area?

I have been using it there and had great results! It does say not to use on the genitals so your general bikini line is ok but I will confess I do go a bit further down on the lightest setting!

I went to a top clinic. What I suspect is that they used a low setting so that you keep coming back for more. It was also patchy.

the lumea gave me better results, after 2 months my legs were free of hair. It worked much better and I could do it at home. I know a lot of people who have used it and it worked for them.

I regret spending so much on sessions.

Yes you shave the hair first, you won’t see a difference until about 2 months in.

very easy and you can do a better job as you’re not rushed to see the next patient!

I had a course of treatment on my legs years ago. I had really thick leg hair which was dreadfully itchy every time it grew back. I'd definitely recommend it. My legs are not hair free by any means but the hair is thinner. There are patches that never grow.

I've recently been considering buying a home kit so will be looking into the ones people have recommended. In the last few years my arms have become really hairy, so they will be my first target area!

I went to a skn clinic approximately 10 years ago.(think I had 6 or 8 sessions)

it all depends on how hairy you are. I don’t think a home ipl device would have coped with my hairy legs. I bought a lumea a few years ago to do smaller areas such as armpits and the finer patchy hair on my legs that have grown back since.

I’m the perfect candidate though - pale skin and dark hair. I used to struggle so badly with ingrown hairs cos they are coarse as hell.

I’d love to get my face done but can’t bear the idea of shaving rather than plucking! (You can’t pluck as hair has to be in the root to be treated)

my legs were wet hairy - the way to look at it is the hair won’t go completely, you always have to top up (just less so as you go on).

so it’s an ongoing cost.

it’s impossible to say for everyone has skin tone and hair thickness is a factor.
I’m still doing my face (chin) but less often.

I'm having laser currently although the lockdowns have been a pain as they've disrupted my course. I've had three sessions so far and can see some little bald patches already.

I wanted laser over IPL and the place I go to uses a Soprano Ice machine. It's pain free apart from a slight twinge on certain areas, but nowhere near as painful as electrolysis.

Best money I ever spent. Medical grade laser is what you need to be having done not IPL

Everyone needs a minimum of 6 sessions. I did 6 on my full leg and bikini. I did an additional 3 on my upper leg. That was 7 years ago and have not had any laser since. Not a hair came back. I did 6 initially on my face, then an additional 3 and I have done one top up since then. So again almost 7 years. I would have been someone who needed to shave daily. I had what can only be described as a carpet on my legs. Really hairy.

I have!!!

Armpits, belly and face (chin & tash) I had about 8 sessions on each area and whilst the belly is still hair free, my underarm hair grows back fine and needs a razor run over every few days, and the face hair is back 😔I have pube hair everywhere! Proper dark and thick. I’m thinking of investing in a machine I can use from home so following with interest.

I would say for anyone suffering from PCOS the Phillips is ineffective. I’ve had medical grade laser which was also ineffective. Lost cause.

So happy with my laser results. Had full bikini and underarms (6 sessions). Could do with a little top up but there’s hardly any growth and so much better than shaving.
