Language learning platforms?

Hello!
This is such a random one - but part of the reason I love Tattle! I can come here with all of my life woes and dilemmas and know that there is someone that can take the time to help.
I learnt Chinese (Mandarin) when I was in school (10-15 years ago now so not much of it has stuck!), and I am now wanting to pick it back up as a hobby to fill a bit of free time I have. I have used Duolingo a fair bit for other languages but don't think it works quite as well for Chinese, so was wondering if anyone has had any luck/success using other online systems? I live quite far out of my local city so being able to go to a class or find a tutor at a university isn't much of an option.
Ideally it would be nice if it was free, but I am willing to pay a small bit if it's a good platform.
Thanks in advance! If anyone needs help in English or French I can offer my services 😂

Have you ever tried language exchange? You can meet penpals on there, most in Asia use the app line as a way to communicate

It can be a little hit or miss with getting someone who's going to help teach an someone who's more wanting a friendship to talk with, there's also some who claim they are teachers but I don't know if they really are or not, I used it for learning Japanese an met some who were really good at helping me an the odd few that really just wanted a chat, in return they usually want to learn English

You can set what age an sex you wish to talk with, an communicate on the website (although I think this takes a fee an why most will link their line ID) an if they aren't right then just block them, I feel the females are more serious about learning from you an teaching you in return than the males are, an since line is a online app you can phone each other through WiFi (I never done this but the options there if you want)
