Honestly, I’m just nosey and I feel like the vast majority of renters have issues with their landlords so I wanna hear your landlord horror stories!
I’m going to say I don’t believe in online banking and cancel all my direct debits and standing ordersWe had terrible damp in our house when we were at uni - contacted the landlady multiple times and nothing was really done.
The same landlady took £20 off my deposit as she had to reissue a cheque. This was around 7 or 8 years ago, so cheques were not a common thing at all, no one was using them a lot. But she insisted on posting cheques, my parents (my only full time address) had moved house so I contacted her telling to make sure and send it to the updated address. She didn't. When I told her this was a total witch about it and mentioned need to take off the money. I said why didn't she just do a transfer, like online - said she "didn't believe in online banking." She was an elderly woman but get a grip. Believe in it or not love, it exists.
Oh I wanna know who and these storiesI was lodger to a pop star in a beautiful, huge town house. She expected me to foot the whole bill for the cleaner even though the cleaner cleaned her private apartment at the back of the house. Then she asked me to pay for the cleaners petrol money! I refused.
It was a beautiful house and she worked in Europe a lot so I would have it to myself for months but she was a total diva to live with! I have lots of stories!

Not really a ‘horror’ story as such but in our last house it had this really old oven which looked like the ones you get in a school kitchen. Anyway it didn’t work, it just didn’t heat up or hold the heat properly. The landlord was really reluctant to sort it out or replace it, kept sending an engineer out who said everything was ‘fine’ with it but I swear we put a pizza in there at 180 and after an hour it still wasn’t cooked. We left after 2 years and the oven was still there when we left, ended up buying a fancy microwave which had an oven setting to use instead. I don’t know how we managed.
