There’s a line between humor and criticism versus too far. I don’t watch dad chronicles but it sounds like maybe he went over the line? On here we poke fun, we criticize, we call out inaccuracies, contradictions, and discrepancies. Some of us watch the videos and actually contribute to his income. I think there’s some level of entitlement as a viewer to provide commentary on something we fund. Imagine if Bezos or Musk or the Facebook guy took those comments to heart.
Part of the first amendment in the U.S. allows citizens to redress their grievances to our government so I think that’s built into our culture, to be critical. We even have different law standards for public figures that allow for more public commentary and criticism. This is something well known and when a person chooses to put themself in the public eye they have to be prepared to deal with some level of scrutiny. I don’t always agree with it but that’s the system.
When I comment, I don’t have any ill will or comment with malice or wish harm upon anyone. I want to affect positive change if anything. We’ve been muted from making this commentary on the YouTube platform so this is another outlet. I’d hate for him to see comments on other platforms or that other YouTubers or streamers receive. There are people who go way far and do far worse things that are not ok. I think Kyle’s “hate” is mild by comparison. I mean, even his dedicated followers plead with him to not do things he does or to make changes. He refuses to listen to anyone. His view of all of this is so skewed and is not reality for the majority of it.
