The jury reached a verdict on June 18th 2025. Read was found not guilty on the three major charges and found guilty on the lesser charge of operating under the influence. A civil case filed by John O'Keefe's family in August 2024 is still pending.

Former MA judge Carol Erskine is going to be on LawyerYouKnow on Thursday. Interested to hear her opinions. She's never said if she was siding towards guilty or not guilty but has commented on the conduct of the court in particular violation of 6th amendment rights.
The only source of tension recorded in John’s life was Karen. No one else had an issue with him, to the point of wanting to kill him.
Still waiting on an alternate theory that fits everything in. Or, is it a case of the defence just saying ‘we don’t know what else could have happened, but just trust us that it wasn’t Karen’?

All there is is baseless speculation and theories and reading them once was bad enough.

The abuse that Juror Paula is getting online is crazy. People telling her they hope she’s in the same position as Peggy one day when something happens to one of her kids

The prosecution laid everything out clearly. There have been hundreds if not thousands of cases convicted on much, much less.
The whole area was infiltrated by a social media and local campaign and they fell for it. Intimidation, fear and bias played a perfect role here.
No one has played out an alternative theory, because there isn’t one. There isn’t a story where a dog fits in, a faraday bag, bla bla, because it wouldn’t fit.

Various insults about women causing him to leave radio shows.
Sexual harassment suit after bosses failed to do something about him and he’d invited a colleague over to a house he said he rented with others for sex parties
Made a “joke” comparing the Mexican navy ship hitting the Brooklyn Bridge to Karen Read’s defence status - 2 people died in this accident.
The day he broke the tail light in the car park, he tried to leave and park in a different space, then tried to put the tail light in a bag. Left his website address on a dry cleaning slip as contact info.
Went live on his show saying it was a conspiracy going round and that no acvident then when the truck owner was speaking to the police said it was a conspiracy and that the woman filming planted the taillight to frame him.
His court reporting was incredibly biased and at times completely false when you compared it to what the journalists in the court room were reporting. No idea how he got a media pass consistently.
It seemed like he got the CourtTV gig when Kevin from YellowCottageTales was sick / having cancer treatment. Kevin talks a lot of crap that’s fed to him by Kate Peter (MassholeMafia) but he’s a lot better than DePetri dish.

Saying goodbye for a while and I know, I know - "don't let the door hit you where the good Lord split you" - no need in announcing it. But, I would just like to say that I've enjoyed the banter and discussion. Just need a break from all the weirdness in the aftermath of this case and also what's going on in the world. So, thanks for the last 8 or so weeks of discussion and debates - I've enjoyed most of it. Take care of yourself everyone!!
Fed up with people on Lawtube commenting that the FBI need to be involved...they already have been and haven't taken any action because there was nothing there.

Well there's been no takers so I thought I'd give It a go.
Karen drops him off at the kerb and rather than go to the door like a normal person he walks into the garage instead (ignore that Karen said she saw him go into the house and waited there because that doesn't fit with the evidence and Karen's said lots of different things. She's clearly "confused" and anyway she said all this before turtle boy told her what the story should be).
Then she reversed a little bit and her wheels spun like crazy because although it wasn't snowing enough or icy enough for her wheels to spin and the car to record 74 percent throttle and 24mph, she definitely didn't reverse because Karen's car defies the laws of physics. and they must have spun because no way did she travel 24 mph in reverse because that's not even possible. Especially in the ice and snow after you've been drinking or only drinking water that looks like shots. ARCCA did it but they are EXPERTS So everything they say and do is gospel.
So then she went home and she was just a little bit angry because he'd gone in the house and she'd been waiting and waiting and waiting outside and he didn't come back so that's the only reason she was angry. Even though she'd have had to leave immediately he started walking towards the house or she wouldn't have got home to Meadows at the time she did - but anyway. Ignore that bit.
After she dropped him and only spun her wheels but didn't go at 24mph backwards, he walked into the door to the garage that she said he didn't go in. As soon as he got through the door Chloe attacked him but not very much because even though she was a vicious police dog she didn't bite hard enough to cause any damage. It was more of a play bite really. But they got rid of her because she was actually a vicious crazed police dog.
As soon as he got in the garage he either went up and down the stairs three times and was killed in the basement (he must have left his phone in the garage though because that didn't move) OR immediately that he got in the garage Brian Higgins in a jealous rage (because he was in love with Karen, even though she had come to his house and nothing had happened) punched John but not hard enough to break his jaw or cause any other bruises just enough to make a small abrasion above his eyebrow at the exact height of her car spoiler. It was so out of the blue that John didn't even have any defensive wounds. Brian has been practising his moves earlier on with other Brian...they'd been training hard for this moment by grabbing each other round the waist and crouching and bear hugging.
But even though it didn't cause any major bruising or fractures this was enough for him to fall backwards onto the garage floor.
Then Brian Higgins went back to the party and they all danced to It's Raining Men for a bit. They had to act normal so that nobody else in the house suspected a thing!! A kids birthday party was the perfect cover for their plan! They must have been so pleased they planned it all for that night, and that Karen and John had turned up at the bar even though they weren't planning to go out that night! What luck!
Then Brian left to go and get a Faraday bag and brought it back and they all carefully moved the phone into the Faraday bag and it must be a miracle because it didn't record any movement at all! They clearly were all very aware that he had apple health on and recording and it was something they needed to move extremely carefully or the game would have been up if it had recorded just one step while they were moving it.
Oh I forgot they had to cover the camera immediately after they punched him because otherwise the phone wouldn't have been in pocket state the whole time, so they made sure they did that immediately. Maybe they wrapped it in a piece of basement carpet or something. Or maybe they didn't take the carpet up until later when the contractors came....I get confused by what Turtle boy says we are supposed to think.
At some point Brian called other Brian for one second. It was a special coded signal for him to start the next part of the plan. So Brian called him back and they discussed how they were all going to cover this up and frame Karen in 22 seconds (including the ringing time).
Anyway after Brian Higgins came back with the Faraday bag and they moved the phone into it without moving it or it recording any steps, they told Jen to Google "hos long to die in cold" because they needed to know how long it would take to finish the job.
Jen was useless and didn't even find the answer so they just took their chances. With the phone in the Faraday bag they put him into the Ford Edge then drove him out of the garage and put him on the lawn. They carefully took the phone out of the Faraday bag, again without it recording any movement whatsoever, making sure they covered the camera so it stayed in pocket state. Then they put the phone under John. Again without it recording any movement/steps, any change from pocket state and without it suddenly updating now it was outside the Faraday bag and receiving signal.
And then they all went home and once Karen woke up and told her niece that she had broken her tail light before she backed out of Meadows, they all waited for Karen to appear with a broken tail light so they could frame her.
Jen called Nicole to warn her their plan was working and to all pretend to be asleep when they all came back and called the police.
At some point they must have got a load of tail light and crushed it up to put in his clothes and under the snow but maybe they delegated that bit of the conspiracy to Brain Albert - and he's the one who called his brother Chris and told Chris to tell his wife to tell her friend to tell her brother to get his blender out for that.
Oh and at some point Brian Albert must have asked his daughter, who wasn't there, to contact her friend and ask her friend to contact her other friend who was an EMT to get her to say Karen admitted to hitting John with her car.

I don’t think anyone knows what happened to John. That’s kind of the point.
I’d love to know what some people think reasonable doubt is? Like what else would you have needed in this case?! Or do you just not accept that part of the law?
