I believe that love island now needs to be taken off air too. I was never a fan of JK nor am I a fan of Love Island but in my opinion it's double standards to get rid of one and not the other when both shows have had people commit suicide!

It’s terrible that it’s taken a real life tragedy to get this horrendous show off the air .

The modern day equivalent of the stocks ; vulnerable and ill educated people being laughed at and mocked.

Apparently a man killed himself because he failed a lie detector and was adamant he wasn’t lying. Resulted in his relationship ending.

ITV are already in the spotlight after two contestants from love island have taken their lives after love island. The show was trash I’m glad it’s gone. Poverty porn.
Awful. Those things are unreliable, if they weren’t they would be used by police, the government etc. There’s a reason why they don’t. But JK thinks they’re foolproof. Twat.

Exactly, whatever your opinions are about JK it's complete double standards! Itv have made a big show about this with JK to shift the spotlight away from Love Island, it's back in a couple of weeks and it's a big hit for the channel there is no way they will get rid of it suicide or not and that leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Mine too! I've never liked love Island anyway, from what I understand it's all young, slim, fit people hooking up. Surely it must give the teens who watch it body issues?

A family member of mine is autistic and went on the show and she got absolutely ripped into by the audience and Jeremy. All taking the piss out of her. If we knew about it we would of stopped her going

Well that's it been officially axed. Really don't agree with that, even though I'm not a viewer it's just a scapegoat so they don't have to axe Love Island which should equally be under the spotlight.

I think there's more to it than the public know. I'm glad it's been axed, it's about time. The way he bullies people doesn't help mental health at all and a suicide was going to happen sooner or later in my opinion. I've never watched Love Island and I don't follow anything about it so I can't really comment on that.

Apparently its not Melissa Ede (although the news is reporting her death), but someone else who was due to be on today.

I feel horrible for the family of the person who died, but it all seems a bit bizarre? I'm sure there's probably been people who had died or relapsed after the show before, yet no legal action has been taken and the show has continued. It must be something quite serious for them to stop filming and investigate. I'm also guessing the person hasn't been identified due to legal reasons.

I do agree that the show did more bad than good. I did watch sometimes, and it seemed it did genuinely help some people who needed it (and maybe couldn't afford help otherwise, although its shit that a show like this was their last resort for counselling or addiction help).

Also...aren't both JK and Love Island ITV shows? Odd how they've pulled JK over this, yet have another season of Love Island coming up despite the 2 deaths.

He's a vile man with a massive gambling habit (allegedly, rumour has it etc 😉) so I've always found it a bit rich the way he preaches about addiction and goes around like he's a saint.

Jeremy Kyle is the most odious, slimiest and arrogant of creatures and I'm glad to see him knocked down a peg or two. Just unfortunate it's under these circumstances. How much despair that poor man must have felt to think that there was no other options other than to end his life. Even if the guy was at fault (cheating) it is not excusable the way Jeremy acts like a self righteous prick and tears into people and humiliates them for trashy tv and his own self satisfaction.

Very sad. Tbh I do wonder how accurate the lie detector tests actually are. I'm sure there are some people who are lying when they're all 'I didn't do it' or try to get questions changed, but you get those people who just seem generally anxious/nervous, and I'm sure that would play into affecting the results.

I can't stand Jeremy Kyle, he's a bully. Shouts his mouth off and then hides behind a bodyguard. He's not exactly perfect. If someone has committed suicide because of the show, then I hope it's never on air again. I can't understand how it's been on air for as long as it has in the first place!

Reality tv as a whole is completely toxic. Jeremy Kyle was probably the worst and it’s a shame it took this to make people realise just how damaging it is. He’s a gross individual, much like Piers Morgan, who of course was out on twitter defending him. He’s another one that needs to go. It’s actually shameful that ITV continue to employ him.
Agreed, I wish Piers Morgan would do one. I think he goes off on one simply because he knows it gives him attention and will rile people up, like every time he complains about woman or vegan options. He's a professional troll. Katie Hopkins is another one. Thankfully I haven't heard much of her since she went bankrupt.

Also re: Jeremy Kyle's aftercare, I remember the only time he ever helped someone after the show was a woman who got bullied for her teeth, to the point she didn't want to leave her house. They only helped her because of the ripping she got on social media, so paid for her to get new teeth. Even then I think they only did it for the good press.

Think one of his guests who he was supposed to be helping has died. That’s all they are saying atm. but like you say, very vague. I think as there’s a death involved they may not be allowed to publish too much just yet

His days on tv are up. Can’t stand him

I'm thinking must be suicide, but it's happened before on ITV shows, one of the contestants from Take me out took his own life and they still aired the episode. I understand pulling the episode but cancelling the show indefinitely seems a bit extreme, there has to be more to it?!

I was wondering the same. ITV news didn’t really give much info out otherwise, but it makes you wonder what actually happened on the show for them to pull it all indefinitely.

JK is a complete bully anyway. The way he screeches in peoples faces like he’s high and mighty really infuriates me.
