First time making a thread so fingers crossed I've done it right!
EDIT: Thank you @Curlygirld for the new thread title!

Oh bless you, sorry it felt weird leaving that as the last comment didn’t realise it! But yeah h8 people being weird about babies and pregnancy it’s bleeping odd. I don’t ask you when or why you last shagged ur crusty fella so why ask meI just wanted to say in response to your last post on the previous thread, you’re fabulous @heretoreaditall2019![]()
Unfortunately the police can only do very little. A few years back someone publicly put on FB that if they saw my husband (at a public venue they named, one they knew he attended as part of this sport) they’d love to knock him out on sight, we contacted the police because it’s an outright threat and the man looked like he didn’t have much to lose tbh and it was at a time where he had a lot of hate online so if you’re a loser it’s probably a valid plan to hatch? Anyway where the bloke lived out of the our force’s radius it just became too arduous to do anything - even though it was a public Facebook status with a full government name attached to it. But then I’ve heard of people being (rightly!) done for posting anti Islamic sentiment on Facebook following terrorist stacks so there doesn’t seem to be any consistent resolution for online crimes?
We’ve had far worse anonymously, like Tattle is I suppose, we had a really creepy thing someone had taken the time to make and posted that was so chilling I cried, police came to the house and took it incredibly seriously but the social network didn’t co operate with the investigation so we never knew who did it. The network did take it down as malicious content when we reported it though, after about 2 days. And this isn’t even starting on what a shithole dive Facebook groups can be, they all need shutting down. I’ve never had public socials because I’ve seen what they send other men’s missuses and it’s vile.
Again Tattle is NO WHERE on this level of abuse and if the police have been useless at helping us. I’ve never tried the civil route for any of this stuff but if my relative nobody husband is getting this level of grief I don’t understand why footballers and TV presenters aren’t starting civil cases left right and centre as it could potentially double their income, surely?
Her recipes don't work because she can't cook and has never bothered to go to the trouble of learning how to. In her quickly deleted libel action threatening tweets last night she admitted that she just throws food together cold into a pan (I'm paraphrasing) and stirs it up. This approach won't result in tasty food. It results in food described in the title of this thread.I’ve got 3 of her books, and I’ve tried a good 9 or 10 recipes but every time it’s been so disgusting it’s had to go in the bin. I’m going to take the books to the charity shop when it reopens![]()
That's where Jamie's show got it right. I binge watched a load of them on catch up yesterday and thought it was really good for suggestions of alternative ingredients if you couldn't get hold of a certain thing. They seem to have pitched this all wrong at Dkitchen. We aren't one step away from ration books and tins have been the notoriously difficult thing to get hold of. People need inspiration on what to cook and what they can sub in for hard to come by ingredients. Whilst still eating well!I am exactly her target audience (which is how I found these amazing threads) but sadly she doesn't realise who her target audience is anymore.
I bought her first book with a book token when I was on a zero hours contract and REALLY related with her story and it resounded with how alienated I felt trying to follow other recipes that required using the oven for 2 + hours or using 3 rings on the hob. I couldn't justify that energy usage and here was a food writer who really understood me.
6 years on, I've never been financially comfortable but I'm in the position to enjoy food cooking (and using the oven) and have taught myself to cook using BBC good food and a few boxes of Hello Fresh.
Her recipes don't seem to have evolved. Daily kitchen is meant to be for pandemic cooking, not poverty. I have the time to babysit a risotto now and need tips on how to make it zing. Back when I was using the first book I wouldn't be wasting electricity watching TV. People who are watching it have food in their cupboards and just want to avoid unnecessary trips to the supermarket.
